NFL 2015 Season (1 Viewer)

Sammy,
IMO, he got a four game suspension because he didn't turn over his phone; he got suspended for not fully cooperating in the investigation.

Not sure what is going to happen, we'll see how it plays out............

George...

the huge fine and penalties...

that's what this is all about...

it's the phone...

Goodell was forced to offer up his phone in the Rice investigation...

he cannot see himself beneath Brady and when Brady refused to give up his phone...

Goodell went ballistic...

as Commissioner of the NFL...their highest appointed official...he is incensed that Brady feels he is above him...

if I have to give mine up...then you can give yours up...

this is a good read...

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...fl-deflategate-appeal-to-roger-goodell-072615

A Brady suspension is inevitable, but it won't be for four games...

ESPN reported that the NFL responded "with silence" to an NFLPA proposal that Brady would abdicate four game checks worth $1.88 million in exchange for the league lifting the suspension.

Yet even without having details of what was said during his appeals hearing with Goodell, I just can't see Brady being forced to serve the entire four-game suspension. And for that, Brady should offer Greg Hardy some thanks.

The NFL reduced Hardy's suspension for domestic violence on appeal last month from 10 games to four. The Hardy and Brady suspensions stem from two different NFL codes. Hardy violated the personal conduct policy. Brady's infraction falls under the "NFL policy on Integrity of the Game and Enforcement of Competitive Rules."

Mike,
If this goes to court, what happens if Brady's lawyer asks that all 32 owners (well actually 31) hand over their private communications records with the league office over this? Ie, let's see what the owners have said to Goodell over this..................that would be epic.

hahaha...

that would be interesting...
but I can't imagine a judge would request that...

as any owner that has sent messages to each other about sticking it to Kraft and NE...

I'm not sure that should weigh into Goodells decision...

including Bisciotti and Irsay...

I can't understand why anyone would ever leave an electronic trail when discussing something illegal...

when I contact you to discuss something I don't want to leave your vault...

I do it on the phone...

NO EMAILS with details...^&grin

and you know a lot of secrets about me...that I'm glad you have been discreet about...

Mike,
Trust me; like you with me, anything we've discussed that you wanted in my vault and stay between us did just that............well, me, you and my girlfriend............well, me, you, my girlfriend and
Nick...........well, me, you, my girlfriend, Nick and my faithful assistant Larry...........well, me, you...............:wink2:^&grin:salute::..............just kidding Mike, the chats always stay between us........^&grin

Wednesday sounds about right............I heard on the radio today that the NFL lawyers are telling the Ginger haired sheriff if it goes to court, the NFL is going to lose............we'll see...............

seriously though...
why do they all leave electronic evidence...
it just floors me in this day and age that people do that...

Goodbye football season, hello suspension {eek3} He apparently destroyed his cell phone (although he claims it was his practice to do so when he got a new one.

He's arrogant and none too bright. Surrounded by people who tell him only what he wants to hear. Lance Armstrong syndrome. Doesn't believe he can be held accountable for anything. They should have doubled the suspension for pulling a stunt like that. And what exactly does it mean to "destroy" a phone? Does he have a lackey run it over in his Hummer or drop it out of his helicopter? And they can't retrieve texts and phone records when the phone is destroyed? LOL. That's bull.

Been a fan of the NFL for close to 45 years and today, I've never been prouder to be a fan of football.

Roger and the NFL really, really did a superb job of protecting the shield.

They set up a brilliant sting, nailed the cheating Patriots (listen, we all know they cheated their way to four super bowl wins, six super bowl appearances, nine trips to the AFCCG including four in a row, thirteen division titles and fifteen strait above 500 records the past 15 years) and dragged arguably their poster boy for the league and his reputation and legacy through the mud, staining it forever.

They really dropped the hammer; four game suspension, million dollar fine, loss of a first and fourth round draft pick because they had the balls to let the air out of the balls (no real proof, no smoking gun, but come on, we all know they did it, Brady is a cheater, I KNEW it, a 6th round draft choice is only this good because he cheated all these years).

Drug users, murderers, wife beaters be ****ed, they nailed the Patriots, who've been on their radar for 15 years for gaining the huge competitive advantage of letting air out of the football.

We all know had they played the Dolts fair and square and their handsome, wolfman look alike QB Andrew Luck in the AFCCG they would have lost, they barely squeaked out a 45-14 win playing with underinflated footballs the entire first half; had they played with properly inflated balls, they would have lost, we all know that.

Kudos Roger, you Ginger haired ballbag, you stooge, you lap dog for the owners; the Patriots have thumbed their noses at his every attempt for parity the past 15 years, he finally showed them who's boss.

so he destroyed the phone after Wells asked for it?

"during settlement talks, the union requested that the record of Brady's appeal be sealed so that, in the NFL's opinion, the information that Brady destroyed his cellphone would not become public, a league official tells ESPN. The NFL declined to do so."

why would the Union want the fact that Brady destroyed his phone kept from the public?

why wouldn't they want us to know?

I have no idea how Brady or the Union is gonna spin either of these...

if he destroyed the phone...
I think he really hurt his case...
that was the one concrete piece of evidence that could have proved him innocent...

George,

You know I am a friend and I agree with a lot of the NFL crap and see it the way you do. BUT, in this case Brady is a moron and he gave Buffoon Goodell all he needed in order to keep him suspended. Destroying the cell phone was god awful stupid. What he should have done is be the Leader he has always been and simply come clean with whatever bs was on the phone and just said, look, the practice of customizing the balls to qb's has been happening ever since I have been in the league, I understand its wrong according to the rule book and I want to be part of the solution. He would have gotten a game or 2 max and it would no longer be a news story. Unfortunately, of all times, he let arrogance rule his brain and he made a terrible decision. I think the best thing he can do now is just take the 4 games, zip his lips and hope Billy B's coaching prowess can get them to go 2 and 2 or 3 and 1, etc. My 2 cents and trust me, it was the same feeling I had when Big Ben got the 4 gamer, that's exactly what they did, they just buckled down and played and came out no worse for wear and the news story died.

On another note, I don't agree with dope smoking and my buddy LeVeon broke the rules. Problem here is the laws are now amenable to dope smoking so it makes it an unusual situation. End of day, he still deserved a suspension and hopefully these 2 games will make him smarter!
Just my 2 cents.

Tom,
Destroying the phone was a stupid, idiotic thing to do.

I don't understand how he could do that and not think it would come back to bite him.

If he is innocent and has nothing to hide, then there is no reason to destroy the phone.

That said, the NFL has butchered this thing from jump, they turned a minor thing into a massive scandal.

Why are we just hearing now about the phone, we were told the phone was not given up, not that it was destroyed.

Why; because the NFL held it back for the appeal, the appeal that Roger himself heard.

Now we go to court, this is going to get messier and uglier.

We've been talking about deflated footballs for seven months and counting.

On and on it goes, it's never going to end.

Pro Football Talk and two other sources are now reporting the league offered Brady a two game suspension if he admitted he was guilty, one game if he apologized and the apology was sincere.

He turned down both offers.

I'm not a lawyer, but IMO, his chances in court took a major hit with the destruction of the phone; after all of this, I think the suspension will stick at four games.

And no matter the outcome, Brady will always be looked at as a cheater.

Awesome.

I think Tom offers good advice here. Even if TB could get an injunction against the suspension starting right away ( according to most of the TV lawyers, HIGHLY UNLIKELY ), if he loses the appeal, then his suspension could start midseason, which could put the Pats in an impossible position to weather the storm without him..Best he gets it over with and let it all die off...Michael

Couldn't agree more Mike; take the penalty and move on. If the suspension starts mid season or later, it will be a distraction all season long, not to mention come out of the chute with the back up as the starter so he can hit the ground running, rather than sit on the bench for 8 or 10 games and then being thrown into the fire cold.

You're spot on; get it over with.............as far as letting it all die off.............sorry Mike, not going to happen, this will follow Brady and the team around all year long.

It's going to be a mess, but it is what it is.

This could be the beginning of the end for the run the Patriots have been on the past 15 years; it has to end sometime...............................

Yeh right, the end of the Pats..! Every time I pray for that, God knocks me back on my very large Catholic butttt. :redface2: Michael

Tom:

Great post.

I can't help but shake my head when I think about Brady and Bell. Brady gets 4 games for deflated footballs and Bell gets 2 games for a DUI?

As far as I know deflated footballs never killed or injured anyone but every 53 minutes someone is killed in DUI related crash. And the NFL/Goodell wonder why the NFL has an image problem.
