NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

unbelievably annoying...

is that stuff legal...

sounds like Internet gambling to me...

they banned all American companies from Internet poker because Uncle Sam wasn't get his cut...

where and how do these places operate?

The attorney general in MA is looking into Draft Kings, their HQ is here in Boston if I am not mistaken, so stay tuned.

Once the attorney general comes sniffing around, look out..............

I didn't watch the game...

but it seems that Detroit was a recipient of a very...very...very bad call last night...
that probably cost them the game...

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...ncellor-calvin-johnson-ball-loose-ball-100515

in this case...
with 1:51 left in the game...
instead of an illegal bat of the ball in the end zone by a Seattle player...
where Detroit should have gotten the ball on the 1 foot line...
ready to score and possibly win the game...
the refs just made the wrong call for a touchback...
and gave Seattle the ball on the 20 yard line...

it wasn't even a challenge able call...
as the rules say an illegal bat of the ball is not reviewable...
that doesn't make any sense to me...

if it's wrong...fix it...

these bad calls seem to be happening more and more...

and I don't know what can be done about them...

the human factor has failed the game once again and this may haunt Detroit later on this year...

it's sad that the refs can't get this right...

It's a somewhat confusing rule as I understand it. The question is whether the player intentionally bats the ball out of bounds. The ref seemed to believe it was inadvertent instead of intentional. Making those kinds of judgment calls opens it up to interpretation. If the Lions don't fumble the ball to begin with, they don't have to rely on the refs to save them.

Neither my son or I saw the game last night. I watched for a few minutes last night but it looked like a pretty tedious game so I turned it off and went to sleep.

As a 49er fan, my son has called the Seahawks the "Cheathawks," channeling his inner George ^&grin

This morning he called me downstairs as I was getting ready to leave, "look what the Cheathawks did." He showed me the replay and he was right. They are the Cheathawks.

not so sure I could call them cheaters...

they didn't let Carroll make the call...

this is like blaming the headset problems on the Pats during the Steeler's game...

NE gets blamed but they really didn't do anything...

it was just another bad call...

there are too many penalties as it is...

seems like it just used to be a holding on every return...

but now...

it's virtually every 2nd-3rd play they drop a flag...

and the truth is...

if every single player was scrutinized on every single play...

we would have a lot more flags...

there is almost always holding on every play...
illegal hands to the face...
an illegal pick set...
false start...
etc...

the games are getting longer and longer as the NFL ref crews call more and more fouls...

this is the human factor that is impossible to get away from...

now don't even get me started on missed calls...

cause there a tons of them too...

After that horrible blown call, did they show Pete the Poodle running up the sidelines with both hands in the air, that goofy look on his face while chewing gum; that's quite a look he's perfected on the sidelines in Seattle.

I question whether that headset he wears is even life, the other coaches probably tell him it is though..................

As we were talking about Draft Kings and betting on sports, the New York Times just came out with an article "Scandal Erupts in Unregulated World of Fantasy Sports. See Scandal Erupts.

Brad...

I saw that...

am employee...

of the company won $2,000,000.000...

and they claim he had no unfair advantage...

He one million percent, no doubt at all batted that out of bounds; the ref is either blind or stupid.

If he's an NFL ref, I'll go with choice C, incompetent.......................

Good point about the growing length of the NFL games, due to the increasing number of flags/penalties/reviews and the passing attack offenses that keep the clocks from running. It has been a while since I have watched a full game without switching to something else because of all the delays. An NFL game used to be a predictable 3 hours, but is now closer to 3 1/2 hours. Wrong trend. Maybe they need to find a way to keep the clocks running, even with incomplete passes, much as on a running play, halting the clock only when the ball goes out of bounds in the hands of the player. -- Al

George...

you mentioned those annoying commercials...

so...you're probably aware of this news story also...

but...this article is a good read...

"Class action lawsuit filed against DraftKings and FanDuel"...

I heard an interview yesterday on XM's ESPN Talk show...

where they hosted the owner...

basically this article just reiterates the facts from that interview...

without the addition of the class action lawsuit filed today...

two interesting facts from the interview I heard...

only 2% the the people who play...actually cash out more money than they put in...

so 98% of their customers are losers...if anyone was thinking about joining to make their fortune...

and...

they claim they have paid out over 2 billion in cash so far!!!

Watched the entire game tonite (rare for me) and if I heard one more commercial of some type of fantasy pay off or league I was gonna shoot the TV!!!!!!!!! the fantasy stuff has become an obsession and is beyond out of control, my son (17 yrs.) and a bunch of his track team buddies show up at my place for a fantasy draft party every August, so I'm walking through the TV room and one of the young guys ask me why don't I join in the fun???? well needless to say I had a few choice words basically stating it would be a very cold day in Hell before I pulled for a rottenburger, Brady, Manning, Watt or any other player besides my Ravens and I could care less if I was quarenteed to win money or not, so as I bit my tongue I did my best to exsplain the ol timers like myself have what they call "loyalty" to certain teams and no amount of supposedly money will ruin that... no more questions were asked ^&grin...Sammy

Sammy...

it kind of ruins the sport for me...

we talk football...and sports during golf...

and this one guy insists on telling us about his fantasy football league wins and losses...

how he barely lost cause some wide receiver dropped a pass...or some QB got intercepted...

he doesn't realize we don't care...

it bores me to death...

Know allllllll about it Mike, a bunch of fellas at work have a league going, and as much as I like to talk football around the ol shop on Monday once it turns to fantasy points then I'm out, I work with guys who are supposedly die hard Eagles, Pats, Packers fans but they care more it seems to me about that fantasy **** more then the game itself...I guess I'm ol school and that's fine with me, the day I start rooting for a opponent teams player is the day I quit watching sports...Sammy

Sammy...

likewise...

as much as I sweat the Cowboys winning or losing on Sunday...
I pay almost equal attention to see if Philly...Washington or the Giants lost...

I wouldn't want to have to root for DeMarco Murray...Pierre Garcon or Eli...

I try to avoid those division rivals if I bet...
unless I'm betting on their opponent that week...

I'll say this though...
it's popular and a lot of people do it...
just not my thing...
I'm stubborn old school too...
I will resist it as much as possible...

I'm too competitive to play fantasy-football. After about four years of participating, I began digging through all sorts of newsletters and such. "Looking for an edge" each week became something of an obsession. The worst part was that I found myself rooting against players on teams that I follow, "now Demarco, I want the Cowboys to win, but how about let's do it through the air this week?" Gave it up three years ago, and have never regretted it for a moment.:D

I guess they are a few dinosaurs like us left in the NFL world, jaw dropping moment...my brother a crazy die hard Redskin fan loses to the Cowboys and is all butt hurt but then announces "well Romo had a great game and earned him a bunch of points"!!! not sure where the NFL is going these days??? the refs decide the games mostly on ticky tack fouls, the fan base mostly pulls for any players from any teams (for their fantasy crap) the players rotate from team to team like perishable stock, as much as I enjoy football I seem to have become disconnected with the future of the league, I'm sure I'll watch and root for my favorite teams but for how much longer is the question??...Sammy

I sometimes DVR a game and can watch the entire thing in about half an hour. The FF button is a great tool of modern society. My favorite moment now is when the offensive players rush to the line and the QB stares at the sideline for 30 seconds waiting for the play call while they hold up all those silly cards. Cue the FF.
