George…you gotta lay off the Boston radio sport’s shows…you’re developing more conspiracy theories than the CIA..^&grin
Peyton didn’t give himself up…he fell down untouched…jumped right back up and threw a strike…nothing illegal about that play…
Section 2 Dead Ball Article 1: Dead Ball Declared.
An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended:
(a) when a runner is contacted by a defensive player and touches the ground with any part of his body other than his hands or feet. The ball is dead the instant the runner touches the ground. A runner touching the ground with his hands or feet while in the grasp of an opponent may continue to advance; or
(b) when a runner is held or otherwise restrained so that his forward progress ends; or
(c) when a quarterback immediately drops to his knee (or simulates dropping to his knee) behind the line of scrimmage; or
(d) when a runner declares himself down by sliding feet first on the ground. The ball is dead the instant the runner touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet; or Note: Defenders are required to treat a sliding runner as they would a runner who is down
a) he wasn’t touched before he hit the ground…
b) he wasn’t restrained…
c) he didn’t drop to his knee…
d) he didn’t slide…
He just stumbled and immediately got back up…nothing illegal about that…one of the announcers mentioned that he thought he gave himself up…but immediately backed off that theory once they showed the replay…
Now with the premise that none of us cheat at solitaire…that was a legal play…anybody...no matter how biased should agree with that...
I don’t understand why you continue to berate him like a old dog that is ready to be euthanized…he led a heck of a rally to win the game…give the future Hall of Famer his props…why can't you like him?
With that said…I bet on Pittsburgh…so I hated that play…but it was legal…and there is no New Orleans juju at Mile High…there are no aliens…Jimma Hoffa wasn’t buried there…and the refs called a fair game…
Peyton called a very similar game to your boy Brady’s attack…short concise passes…not many throws over 10-20 yards with whatever YAC they can produce after the catch…it was effective…the biggest difference was that Peyton’s receivers dropped a ton of balls…not weak wobbling ducks…but good passes that him them square in the basket…
At the start of the 2nd quarter one of the announcers said his receivers had already dropped 6 passes…
All that said…I will agree with you that NE -3 is a bad line…and will jump on that is that’s the number my bookie puts up…NE won’t get a real test until they meet Carolina or Arizona…
Mike,
If you don't think the NFL has it in for the Patriots, then I don't know what to tell you.
The whole Deflategate thing was a witch hunt from jump, Brady suspended for four games for "being generally aware" that the balls were tampered with. No evidence was ever found, no smoking gun; I'd hate to go to prison if I'm trial for my life if I was accused of murder, there was no evidence I did it, but I was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for being "generally aware" that someone close to me was murdered.
The Patriots finished 12-4; if that suspension had not been overturned, without Brady for the first four games, they best they would have done IMO was 2-2, so now they finish 10-6. Based on the tiebreakers, the Jets also finished at 10-6 and would have won the division and the Patriots, instead of playing this week for the AFC Championship, would be at home.
Do you think that would have been fair Mike, because I sure as **** don't.
They also lost a 1st and 4th round draft pick; the team in the Wells report was found innocent and not guilty of any wrongdoing, yet the Ginger haired stooge who runs the league docked them two draft picks anyway.
And this thing is still not over as the league appealed the decision, they do not want to let this go.
Manning on the other hand, misses a year due to a severe neck injury, has three or four surgeries, then comes back with Denver and at age 38 HAS A CAREER YEAR, SETTING ALL SORTS OF PASSING RECORDS.
A story comes out that he used HGH and the media and the league buried the story faster than you can say "cover up."
Call me a conspiracy theorist all you want; watch the bag job that ensues Sunday so like Sammy the Greek said, Golden Boy Peyton gets one last shot at a Super Bowl.
Makes me sick to my stomach.
