NFL Season 2016-17 (4 Viewers)

Boy did Christmas come early for the Giants! Not only do they get Jamoris Jenkins, one of the top cornerbacks in the league, so now have excellent cover corners on both sides with DRC, but they also signed excellent pass rushing defensive end Olivier Vernon from the Dolphins, and run stuffing 350 lb. defensive tackle Damon Harrison from the Giants. If they can get a quality middle linebacker and a safety in either free agency or the draft, the Giants will have gone from the worst defense in the league to the best defense in the NFC East. Its amazing how the threat of losing your job can inspire a GM!

The last time a Super Bowl winning team lost both its starting QB and backup QB was in 2001. Trent Dilfer and Tony Banks both left the Ravens and Elvis Grbac became the starter. They still made the playoffs as I recall but did not go very far.

I see that same type of scenario for the Broncos.

They only have themselves to blame by the way they treated him. At the first sign of trouble, they go to Manning, who had little left.

Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

Local sports talk radio drive time host today is babbling on and on and on and on and on about how Denver made the right move by going to Frankenforehead over Ostellmyermusterburger, that championship flag will fly forever and it was the right move.

Can't argue with the logic that a championship is a championship; this guy keeps calling Elway "The Don" and he'll find a QB and Denver will be fine......

Bradford got $18 mil per year, Osweiler got $18 mil per year and Cousins got $20 mil. The combined career record of all three is 41-54. And for good measure they are 0-1 in the playoffs. Osweiler is the best among them with a 5-2 record but much of that can be attributed to Denver's defense.

Least surprising development of the off-season: Browns release Manziel. They gave him every chance and he still blew it.:rolleyes2: Denver, the coast is clear... -- Al

Nevermind. Broncos get Mark Sanchez instead.{eek3} -- Al

So far the Seahawks left tackle, Russell Okung, has visited the Giants, Lions, and Steelers. I would love to see the Giants grab him, as they would then be strong in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I like the much more reasonably priced upgrade at either middle or weak-side linebacker in former Redskin Keenan Robinson. He is good in coverage, and the Giants sorely lacked a linebacker who could cover. So far, despite my fears, Jerry has done a very good job this offseason. However, with the draft around 45 days away, I am still worried. While his past free agent signings have included some good pickups, like Antrelle Rolle, his draft classes have been abysmal.

Assuming they sign a tackle (Okung or another quality tackle), the Giants still need at least one more quality linebacker, and at least one quality safety, both of whom can play right away. I just don't trust Jerry Reese in the draft, and the Giants still have about $20 million in cap space, so I am hoping to hear they signed a good safety, maybe Chris Conte, or a quality linebacker. One can always hope . . .

Jets haven't done much (other than resign Bilal Powell, who was important for them last year, and sign Matt Forte) but they don't have a lot of cap space this year. They also are at a standoff with Fitzpatrick who wants a big contract. However, not sure there is a big market for Fitzpatrick so he may resign at a price more to their liking.

As a Patriots fan, I really hope they don't sign him, the Jets will be a lot less annoying without Spinach Chin running the offense...................

Am a bit curious to know why the Pats traded away Chadler??...Sammy

Because in big games, he came up small, as in 2 sacks in 9 career playoff games, he was invisible vs the Donkos and cementshoes Manning.

Also, he's a free agent after the 2016 season, they weren't going to sign him when they have to address Collins, Hightower and Butler.

They got a second round pick, a about 5 million in salary cap relief and some tomato can who was drafted 7th overall three years ago but has been a total bust.

Good riddance.

As far as your comments about Watson in the other thread; a top 5 tight end? Ah, no; he was ranked the 36th best tight end by ESPN for the 2015 season.

The 5th ranked tight end is in fact Bennett from the Bears, whom the Patriots just traded a 4th and a 6th round pick for, also known as robbery.

What on earth were the Bears thinking with that trade; a 4th and 6th for a top 5 tight end, wow.

So him, Gronk, Edelman, Amendola, Hogan, Lewis........................yeah, good luck stopping that offense........................

Your right about Watson, it wasn't he was the 5th best rated it was he had the 5th most yards caught by all Tight Ends in 2015, as far as rating players from ESPN I could care less if they rate him no.1 or no. 100, and after basically having Pitta out last year, a rookie (Matt Williams) and a few other no name Tight Ends I believe Watson will fit in just fine...Sammy

Several commentators have theorized that the Pats signing of Chris Hogan from the Bills means the end of Amendola.

Wow, Just got home from a busy day to read the Ravens player Trey Walker died of his injuries from a accident :( Rest In Peace Trey Walker.

Did Amendola come back 100% from his injury?

I don't think he was 100% in the AFCCG, Edelman sure wasn't, I don't think Gronk was as well, they need depth in the worst way so when players go down, someone who's not a no name tomato can will step in and step up.........

The Browns have signed RG III to a contract.............ok then.

The Cleveland Browns; where NFL careers go to die.........................

Anyone wanting to dispute that claim, I direct you to Tom Cousineau...
