NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

I just went to check the NFL headlines and saw that Carolina rescinded Josh Norman's franchise tag and he is now an unrestricted free agent????

The Niners do have $50mil or so in cap space and are in dire need of experienced corners, let alone one of his caliber.

$75 million for 5 years...

$51 million guaranteed...

that's $15 million a year...

or 10% of the 2016 annual salary cap of $155 million for the next 5 years...

seems like a whole lot of money for a corner back to me...

Washington must really like Norman...

Looks like Brady is back in the hot seat with his suspension. How long will this go on?

I feel like it all came down to the destruction of his cell phone...

that was his "get out of jail free card"...

if in fact it held no evidence of collusion on deflating the balls...

He can still appeal to the full Second Circuit Court of Appeals; a three judge panel handed down the decision.

Basically, the Court held that the Commissioner had not abused his discretion under the CBA and that Brady had not been deprived of his rights.

Interesting that Brady re-negotiated his contract in such a way that he will only lose $230k instead of $2.1 million if he is suspended. If he is smart, he simply takes his four games and moves on. At his age, missing four games is not exactly the end of the world. He is not doing himself any favors by prolonging this. It has never really been a question of his guilt but rather the appropriate penalty. The initial ruling was absurd claiming his due process was somehow violated because he could not have known that cheating might lead to a suspension. That judge must have lifetime 50-yard line seats in beantown.

This Brady thing has been going on forever. I wish someone would be the bigger person and just put a stop to it, either by dropping the thing or serving the suspension.

it may have come to a conclusion here...

but not sure Brady's pride will let him walk away a loser on this...

Arizona withstanding...

the first 4 games are not NE's toughest opponents...

I would think Belichick has Garoppolo ready for this possible outcome...

he's certainly had enough time to plan for it...

if there is such a thing as planning for no Brady on the field...

that is an almost impossible guy to replace...

I'll wait for Warrior's assessment. All other comments are mostly from poor losers.
" It has never really been a question of his guilt ..." my behind.
Go Brady

Mike:

Whoever backs down has my respect, be it Brady/The Patriots or the NFL.

The one scenario that I would like to see is Brady takes the suspension and the Patriots go 4-0 during that time. Then everyone who says that Belichick can't win without Brady can be reminded of 2008 when the Brady-less Patriots barely missed the playoffs, going 11-5.

I for one...

personally think they can win without Brady...

they might lose to Arizona...but Houston, Buffalo and Miami should not be a big problem...

I don't think anyone is gonna back down at this point...

I doubt the NFL will...

not sure what NE can back down from...

but I'm not gonna listen to all the blowhard poor losers comments on here...^&grin

like BLReed...

I'm gonna wait for George's completely unbiased personal assessment...^&grin

Not to sound like a poor loser here but just let it go, the Pats lost a 1st round pick, paid a huge fine for something that has turned into a 3 ring circus over and over and over again? just isn't worth it in my opinion, it sucks as this is one of the more fun weeks in the NFL with the draft Thursday nite, but guess what was on every sports channel around the clock today?? yep the 'ol Deflategate returns to raise it's ugly head for the umteenth time!!:mad: get over it NFL Commish/regulators all the fans have...Sammy

We get this headline and Manziel being indicted.

On a draft note, I saw today that the Patriots are very interested in Keenan Reynolds from Navy.

I saw that as well Jason, got to say I'm really looking forward to this year's draft, the top 5 or 6 could go in any direction with each team tossing up smoke screens in the last few weeks to which way they may go, as far as my Ravens I'm hoping we go defense with Myles Jack, Ramsey,Bosa either one would be an immediate starter, should be a fun night...Sammy

Sammy:

I am looking forward to it as well. The experts still think the Niners will move Kaepernick, but I am not as sure. That is one of the great mysteries of this draft (among others).

Good luck to your Ravens in the draft.

I think Cappy will stay, Chip Kelly wants to give Kaepernick a true shot at his run and gun offense which really should benefit him as a QB on paper anyway, and good luck to your 49'ers to Jason, hard to believe it was a short few years ago we're fighting for the Superbowl title and now were fighting for top 10 draft picks!!^&grin

Sammy...

I'll give you Jack...

we're in good shape on our offensive line...

but with the #4...I hope we pick either Ramsey or Bosa...

I prefer Ramsey...

we have no pass rush and an even worse secondary...
