NFL Season 2016-17 (1 Viewer)

Well this has been a fun night for me.....................we're on to the second round.

all right George...

you're in the game tomorrow...

get your game face on...

some fun tonight though huh?

don't tell me you didn't enjoy the reception Goodell received every time he came on stage...

Have to be honest with you Mike; outside of the top 5 or so picks, I've never heard of the rest of these guys. The NFL draft really is a total crapshoot, even the first round.

Who's the QB the Donkos drafted; he looks like an out of work magician. The Bills drafted some guy who needs shoulder surgery and the Jets drafted some guy who needs to work on his tackling technique, get bigger and faster and learn to shed one on one blocks.

Really?

As far as the booing; I don't get it, isn't he a hero for 31 other teams for taking down the Patriots?

I thought so, right?

I'm confused......................

The QB the Broncos drafted is supposed to be very good and is their QB of the future. It kills their deal with the Niners and should close out any further landing spot for Fitzpatrick, who said he'd rather quit than accept the Jets offer. And I thought people from Harvard were supposed to be intelligent.

Everybody hates Goodell George.

Broncos must have been desperate because the Jets said they had considered drafting Paxton but not until the 3rd or 4th Round. Having Sanchez as your starter will do that.

Everything horseface touches turns to gold; he totally screwed the pooch the way he handled the Osweillerburgermystermysterburger situation last year, yanking him in the last game vs San Diego and putting Peyton the fossil in the game, they won and then he stuck with the fossil and for the second time in his career, he did zip in the playoffs and his defense carried his corpse to a Super Bowl win.

Then Oswiellerhymer blew off the Donkos and signed with the Oilers; I guarantee you this stooge they reached for and drafted three rounds too early will be an all pro ten years in a row, a first ballot HOF candidate and the Donkos will win multiple Super Bowls.

Either that or he'll be a complete and utter bust and he'll be mowing my lawn in three years.

I watch way to much college football, I recognize names of guys being taken in the third round.

And I also crack-up at the boos for Goodell. He is a puppet for the owners and simply does what he is told. You want to boo someone, boo all of the owners who write the music, pick the instruments and the venue then send out the conductor to take the blame when the orchestra sounds terrible.

I'd like to nominate this for post of the year.

Actually, the decade.

This whole Deflategate thing comes down to the owners told him to drop the hammer on the Patriots, so that's what happened, he did what he was told.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

And Kevin Faulk coming out to introduce the Patriots third round pick wearing a #12 jersey was the highlight of the night for me.

"Hey Roger; Faulk you"...............................

Let's not kid ourselves, he's not an unwilling participant or just an employee. He's like a CEO and he has made them millions. He's only doing what he's paid to do. And yes they're clearing the books on the Pats for past transgressions but the Pats put themselves in this position. They gave Goodell opportunity and he took it. I doubt the Pats will be as brazen about it next time, if there is a next time.

Doing what he did would be like when I was ten I broke a window at a neighbors house by throwing a rock through it and my Father let that slide, then when I was twelve, I forgot to shut the basement light off, so my Father grounded me for a month, partly because I left the light on, but also because he didn't punish me properly for the rock incident from two years ago.

One has nothing to do with the other and the punishment does not fit the crime.

And sorry, unless someone shows me a smoking gun, I still don't think the Patriots or Brady did anything wrong here and even if they did, it's an equipment violation at the most, not something that should be punishable with the loss of a 1st and 4th round draft pick, a million bucks and the suspension of the QB for four games, only the most important player on the team.

And don't blow smoke up my *** by telling me "All they have to do is go 2-2 in those games, finish 10-6 and just get into the playoffs" because last year losing just one game they should have won cost them HFA for the Championship game and another Super Bowl win.

What the commissioner did will derail the 2016 season and who knows what player they would have ended up with at 29 that could have helped them for the next five to eight years.

Total and utter BS.

As usual, it's the coverup and not the crime that gets you in deep water. Brady's destroying his phone was egregious. Even one of the appellate judges took Brady to task on this. Brady also, unintentionally, made it worse for other players because the Court confirmed the Commisioner's broad authority; this will act as binding precedent.

The NFLPA made their own bed by agreeing to allow the commissioner to hear appeals, simply boneheaded to allow that to be written into the CBA.

This will be the snag in the next CBA negotiation and the players will either strike or be locked out over this.

I just caught a glimpse of Robert Kraft on the 6:00pm news as he spoke at the Patriots draft party down at the stadium about the courts ruling; he looks about 110 years old, this whole thing has taken quite a toll on him.

I don't think the Players Association will get this out unless they give up something, like agreeing to an 18 game season.

George...
right or wrong...
I think this is exactly what is happening...
it is the accumulation of all punishments...
kind of like after OJ was acquitted on murder charges...
they were just waiting for him to run a red light or spit on the sidewalk so they could give him life in prison...
the straw that broke the camel's back...

as much as Goodell was booed every time he stepped on stage at the draft...
to the owners...he has done a fantastic job to financially improve their revenues...so they love him...
maybe Kraft doesn't currently...but I bet he did before Deflategate...

as Goodell represents the NFL owners...
and has the authority to penalize and fine the players and teams...
the NFLPA...the players...and fans on teams penalized may hate him...
but I don't think the owners do...
he's a "cash cow" in their eyes...

today Eric Winston...
the president of the NFLPA...
blasted Goodell for this comment about Tunsil's gas mask weed video coming out...

"I think it's all part of what makes the draft so exciting," Goodell said. "Clubs make decisions. Sometimes they take risks. Sometimes they do the right things. Sometimes they don't, and we'll see. Hopefully he is going to turn out to be a great young player."

sounds pretty tame to me...even interpreted as words of encouragement for Tunsil's career...

I don't see what he said to get blasted by the NFLPA president?

sounds like sour grapes to me...

I honestly don't see what was so inflammatory to them...
but this is their mind set about Goodell...
he can do no right in their eyes...

and anyway...
Tunsil is kind of a flake as a person...
I don't care about the weed...
big deal...
it's legal in a lot of states and will be more accepted in time...
but this kid admits he took money from his coach while in college...
I doubt that will be legal for a long while...if ever...

I suppose it's the NFLPA's job to protect the players...
but I think they go to extremes at time..

in the last labor agreement negotiation...
the NFLPA feels they gave Goodell too much authority regarding discipline...
and they probably did...
so the NFLPA has come to hate him...
they signed the contract...
so they live with it til the next negotiation...

but I doubt Goodell is going anywhere as he has promoted the NFL to record revenues...
and they are stuck with him til the owners decide to oust him...

I know you still believe Brady had nothing to do with the inflated balls...
you're entitled to your opinion...
but the majority of the judges did...
worse yet...
they said they felt he was not forthright and destroyed evidence...
and like somebody said earlier...
Brady should just step up and say he will accept the penalty for the good of the game...
but declare one last time that he had nothing to do with the deflated balls...

Mike,
I agree with everything you said, the owners all love him as he's made all 32 of them **** tons of money, that's all they care about.

In the meantime, he's ruined the game, it's not the same sport it was and it never will be again.

He keeps talking about the integrity of the game; he wouldn't know what integrity was if I bashed him over the head with it.

The way he hugs those kids as they're drafted and come up on stage like he's their long lost Uncle turns my stomach, all the while he's waiting for his chance to take them down.

Personally, I can't stand him, he's a phony and a total fraud.

So I take it that you will not be letting him hug you, any time soon?{sm4} Michael

Don't get me wrong, Goodell is the man at the helm of the NFL and must answer for his actions thereof, however to imply that he is doing whatever he wants is off base. He has been paid millions by the owners because he has done their bidding, and as was pointed out, made them money. The billionaire owners sign off on everything he does.

I also believe that their is merit to what George has mentioned in the past in regards to jealousy among the other owners. The Patriots are a model franchise who are constant favorites to win the Super Bowl which I believe causes envy among the other owners. The moment their is the slightest transgression on their part and they immediately become public enemy number one. Success breeds contempt from those who do not have it.

Robert Kraft is feeling what Eddie Debartolo felt when he was forced out as owner of the Niners, everyone in the club is a friend to your face but behind your back they are scheming against you.

Amen.

Kraft found out the hard way there is no honor among thieves, he's has no friends in this league when it comes to the 31 other owners.

So much for him stepping up to help get the last labor dispute resolved; his attitude next time I'm sure will be "You're on your own, you other 31 fellas figure it out, I'm staying out of it."

Would love, love, LOVE to see them go 4-0 with the back up in there, 31 heads around the league would explode at the same time.

Worst case for the NFL is that they go 4-0 and then go on to win the Super Bowl. Someone besides Goodell would have to hand the trophy to the Patriots.

I guess that is irrelevant since the Niners are going to win it all this year. ^&grin

Granted betting lines and odds move for different reasons, but on January 10 the Patriots were 8-1 to win the Superbowl and on May 1 they were 6-1.

They moved from 8-1 to 6-1 after Brady's suspension was re-imposed?

It looks like Hayne is going to leave the NFL and return to playing rugby. It was a great a story, and as a Niner Fan I wish him well.
