Pengiuns player ran Erikson, now he's got yet another concussion, so Thorton waited for his chance and then pounded the guy into the ice, would have pounded him through the ice if they didn't pull him off of the guy.

No place in the game for trying to end guys careers, the Penguins already ended Savards career with a cheap shot elbow to the head, not going to let them do it again if Thorton has a say.

Good for him.

so pounding an unconscious player on the ice is ok in your eyes ...... the guy that got kneed was overacting much like any footballer does in the situation over here .

Didn't Cam Neely get wiped out by Ulf Samuelsson during a Pens/Bruins game too?

Yes.

And no, he did not flop like a soccer player.

So relax.

Neal got a 5 game suspension for his cheap shot knee to Marchands head while he laid on the ice.

What a goon.

And FWIW, Thorton will get at least 10, maybe 15 games for what he did as it was worse.

A lot worse, he's going to get hammered.

What Thorton did was wrong and he should get the book thrown at him for it. The difference between Thorton and Neal is Neal is a well known head-hunting cheap shot artist (ala Matt Cooke) who always has a lame excuse or outright lies about what his intentions were afterwards whereas Thorton has always been a stand-up guy until Saturday night's incident. And let's not forget Orpik's cheap-shot on Erikson, if there was penalty called for that dirty hit or he grew a pair and fought Thorton when challenged the rest of the crap may never have happened.

Please as a former hockey player don,t compare hockey players in regards to embelishing an injury to the way soccer (football) players react.

This nails it; Thorton snapped, plain and simple, all started when Orpik ran Erikson, giving him his second concussion this season, then Thorton slapped Orpik around and Orpik refused to dance as if he did, Thorton would have destroyed him and it would have ended there.

Neal said in his hearing he didn't see Marchand on the ice; what a lying sack of @#$%, he stuck his knee out and drilled the guy.

What a coward.

Ovechkin had the game of the year last night. Four goals - four laser beams. Including the tying goal with less than a minute to go. Caps win in the SO after being down 3-0.

HBO,s 24/7 The Road to the Winter Classic starts Saturday. Love this program.

He's far and away my favorite NHL player, there isn't a close second.

Was hoping somehow the Bruins could steal him from the Capitals after an off year (for him) a few years ago.

No such luck.

The Kings are on fire. They lose one of the best goalies in hockey and call up a guy from the AHL who is getting it done. They broke an NHL record by not giving up a first period goal in 17 straight games. Beat Montreal and Toronto in the great white north giving up only one goal to make it five wins in a row. Other than charging $350 for their snazzy warm up jerseys for the outdoor game, they are on my nice list this x-mas.

The AHL outdoor game is airing on many different media outlets tonight. A fun game although it would have been better this weekend with 8 inches of snow expected:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The American Hockey League has announced that this week’s regular-season outdoor game between the Rochester Americans and Lake Erie Monsters will be televised live to audiences across the United States and Canada from Frontier Field in Rochester, N.Y.

The sixth outdoor game in the American Hockey League’s 78-year history will take place this Friday, December 13, at 7 p.m. ET. In the U.S., the game will air live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel to customers in Western New York, and on SportsTime Ohio in northeast Ohio; SportsTime Ohio is also available nationally on DirecTV (channel 662), Dish Network (channel 431/5431) and AT&T U-Verse (channel 735/1735).

In Canada, the broadcast will air live across the country on Sportsnet in all four of the network’s broadcast regions.

Live video streaming of the game will also be available to subscribers of AHL Live (ahllive.com), and the game will re-air on NHL Network in the U.S. on Saturday at noon ET.

All of you know I,m a huge hockey fan but to be honest if the weather was really cold no way would I want to sit outside for 3 plus hours. My seats are about as far away from the ice as any in the arena, can,t imagine watching hockey from even farther away.
On another note, the Blackhawks are coming to St louis for a game on Saturday night 12-28. Now when the Hawks play in St Louis the arena is about 40% people who come here from Chicago and they are not dad, mom and 2 kids. They are the guys in their early 20,s and usually drunk. I hate going to those games as it is a zoo. So for this game I put my tickets for sale on ticketmaster. My seats for me cost $25 each, I sold them for $95 each, after ticketmasters commision I ended up with $171! Now I just made some Blues fan mad as my seats are now filled with some 20 year old drunk from Chicago!

I went to the AHL outdoor game last year. Oddly enough it wasn't the cold that bothered me but the rock hard bench seats with no backs. That was murder. I could barely stand up after game. And it is much harder to see from the stands, but still an event. Your Blues are playing well at home. That would be a hard game to pass on.

Gary:

Does the profit from the ticket sale go towards toy soldiers or jerseys?

Neither, it goes towards either playoff tickets or next years season tickets.
And to Combat, trust me I would rather be in the confines of my family room watching the Blues-Hawks. It truely is a royal pain with all those Hawks red jerseys parading around.

I know what you mean. I am a Hurricanes season ticket holder. We get a lot of rowdy, young drunks from Buffalo sometimes. Our fans and theirs had a few run-ins during the 7-game conference finals in 06. I went to a game in St. Louis about 13 years ago. The Blues were playing the Avs, and they were both around the top of the league that year. Free lower level seats from a business associate.

And from the look of things I think it is going to be a deep run into the playoffs.
