Nhl 2013 (4 Viewers)

The Blackhawks seem to be rolling again this year. They beat my Kings last night and broke their six game winning streak and 18 game streak with no goals given up in the first period. The Kings went through Canada like Sherman through the south, but got handled by Chicago. The western playoffs are going to be a war. I think there are three teams in the West with more points than the top team in the East. LA, San Jose, St. Louis, Anaheim and Chicago will make for some tough playoff matchups.

Martin Jones is now 7-0 in goal for the Kings after coming up from the AHL. Including a couple of shutouts. Holtby is going to be jealous.

But he hasn't faced the red hot penguins !!!! since the Boston farce unbeaten and scoring for fun .

The Bruins lost to the last place 8 win Sabres last night.

Sorry, 9 win Sabres.

Those players should have been made to skate home from Buffalo last night; they;d better run them out of the building tomorrow night.

Look at the bright side George . . .my son Alec celebrated his favorite team, the Islanders, 10th victory last night. Pretty pathetic.

That's too bad, sad to see how far that once great franchise has fallen; they used to be a Stanley Cup winning machine.

What's the latest with them Louis, are they really moving to Brooklyn?

Yes, next season I think. It will probably save the franchise. The Barclay Center is really nice, and will draw a lot of fans from Brooklyn and Queens, whereas, when I take my son to games at Nassau Coliseum, it is so run down its pathetic. Nassau County just didn't have the money to build a new stadium, and the old run down place was pretty much always empty.:redface2:

You hockey guys watch HBO 24/7 The Road to the Winter Classic? One of my favorite shows. On the 2nd episode both Toronto coach Caryle and Detroits Babcock threw the cameras out of the dressing room after their teams loss and according to the TV agreement that was not suppose to happen. I don,t think we will see that again.
As for the Islanders, they are moving to Brooklyn but I think they will retain the Islanders name. A great documentory on ESPN 30 on 30 is about the guy who bought or almost bought them but had no money.
The Blues keep winning and I check the standings and Chicago, Anaheim, LA, SanJose all keep winning too. I think the Eastern Conference leader would be about 6th in the Western Conference.

Yes, they are moving to Brooklyn but I think for hockey, the arena will be smaller. Their owner tried desperately to keep the team on LI but the voters keep turning down new stadium proposals. It's a good thing the Ice-landers are leaving the Long Island Mausoleum.

I saw that 30 for 30 a few months ago. It was incredible that he almost got away with it. In today's age of financial checks, that wouldn't be possible or harder to pull off, we hope.

Gary:

Great show. It is very well done. I am completely into it!

I saw there was a 100% chance of snow and possible wind chill temps in the single digits for the outdoor game tomorrow. Should be fun for those of us watching from home. LOL.

After the NHL game on CNBC sports last night they did a piece from the stadium in Michigan where the game is to be played and I got cold just watching it on TV. Combat, I,m with you, I,ll enjoy it in the warmth of my home. Also I was wondering how on earth could you even see the puck from some of those seats, they are a mile away!
Looks like next years will be in Washington DC at the Nationals ballpark.
One thing I wonder about, they always promote this as the players going back to their roots from when they were kids playing hockey outside on ponds. In this day and age I,m sure there youth hockey playing experiance was on indoor rinks, sure some pick up games in a homemade back yard rink, but the majority of there play was indoor rinks!
Probablly off camera the players hate that they have to play in the elements. I know the first few years I played hockey it was on an out door rink and it was horrible.

Gary-
Great win by your Blues the other night. They are tough at home. They were down 5-2 to Chicago and came from behind to win. The Kings played Chicago last night and to listen to the NHL commentators the Kings were the Washington Generals to the Blackhawks' Harlem Globetrotters. A ridiculous bias for teams like Chicago, Pittsburgh and Boston in the NHL media. Three of the best teams in hockey are in California this season. The Western conference playoffs are going to be a war. San Jose, St. Louis and LA are among the most physical teams in the league.

The Anaheim Ducks scored 9 goals last night against Vancouver to go 20-0-2 at home! They are on fire. Seven points ahead of the Eastern Conference leader Pittsburgh. I just wonder if they are tough enough to win playoff games on the road. My Kings are struggling to score goals. They have the top defense in hockey, but can't buy a goal some nights.

Combat, big game tonight, Blues vs Kings! We then got the Ducks Saturday. This team (Blues) are for real but a sweep of these two teams would be scarey!

If the Blues can score more than one goal, they should beat the Kings. LA has been slumping. Except for Kopitar and Carter, no one on that team can buy a goal. They play a lot of 2-1 games.

Anaheim and Chicago tonight. The top two teams in the league. I'm interested to see how the Ducks play on the road against one of the better teams. They have been unbeatable at home, but soft on the road.

Gary-
The Kings really seem to have the Blues' number. They play similar styles, but I think Quick is the difference in goal. Scoring four goals for the Kings is a minor miracle. They got two from a guy who had not scored a goal the entire season! One was even a shorthanded.

Combat, one word "Quick" that guy just stones us.
Most people in St Louis would prefer Elliott in goal, but Halak is making 4 million so they keep on trying to justify that.

I,ve been following the Blues since their inception. Now I,m not saying that we have not had real good goaltenders, but since the days of Hall & Plante, we haven,t had the complete shutdown guy, ie Quick.
Steen will be back tomorrow night, that is a big plus.
Gary

The Kings got jobbed big time last night in Detroit. They are up 2-1 late in the game. Detroit takes a shot with about 20 seconds that gets deflected up into the safety net behind the Kings goal. The puck bounces back and off the goalie into the goal. Everyone in the stadium sees this except the refs. Because the refs don't blow it dead, it is not reviewable under the NHL rules! Isn't the entire purpose of a review to get the call right when the refs blow it? The Kings then lose in OT.
