Nhl 2013 (2 Viewers)

The Kings got jobbed big time last night in Detroit. They are up 2-1 late in the game. Detroit takes a shot with about 20 seconds that gets deflected up into the safety net behind the Kings goal. The puck bounces back and off the goalie into the goal. Everyone in the stadium sees this except the refs. Because the refs don't blow it dead, it is not reviewable under the NHL rules! Isn't the entire purpose of a review to get the call right when the refs blow it? The Kings then lose in OT.

Wow, that is total BS, beyond BS actually, how can the refs miss something like that?

Watching the Bruins/Blackhawks, it's like watching men vs boys, the Blackhawks continually have odd man rushes, pin point passing, they are one speed faster than the Bruins.

Whichever Eastern Conference team gets to the finals is going to get demolished by whatever team survives the bloodbath known as the Western Conference.

Maybe the worst call in the history of sports. Look at this replay at about the 47 second to 1 minute point of this video- the puck hits the net about 15 feet or more above the glass and bounces off the goalies back. It almost went over the net. The refs didn't see it - they must have thought the wind blew it back into play.

The Kings continue their slide. They play great defense but can't score goals. Frustrating. But the big outdoor game is coming up Saturday night at Dodger stadium. The traditionalists will probably roll over in their graves when they play volleyball between periods, but it should be quite a sight. Temps expected to be in the 60s. Hopefully no one falls through the ice.

I'm watching the Pens-NYI game last night when the NYI score an apparent goal when the goalie covers up the puck and the Islanders hack at it until it goes in. The refs waive it off because the commentators indicate they can call a play dead when the refs have the intent to blow the whistle! Even if they don't actually blow the whistle. And that is not reviewable under the NHL rules. However, after much discussion, they decide to award the goal to the Islanders even though the play is not reviewable. HA HA HA. My poor Kings were robbed because of the puck bouncing off the safety net was not reviewable by "Toronto." The NHL needs to review every single goal regardless of what the refs call. It's pathetic. I've been to the NHL Hall of Fame in Toronto. Try to buy a Kings t-shirt there and they look at you as though you landed from Mars.

Temps close to 70 today in LA. It should cool off tonight for the game. It doesn't start though until about 10:30 EST.

Todays Blues Islanders game. Talk about snatching a victory out of defeat. Blues tie game with 32 seconds left. In OT with Isles on power play they score an apparant goal. Goal reviewed because it went off Isles players skate. While waiting for review all the St Louis announcers are saying it,s a good goal, no distinct kicking motion. Ruling comes back, no goal!
Goes to shoot out, final skater for Blues scores, Blues win!

Yeah, I hate to break it to you Gary, but that was a horse@#$% overturn on that goal, no kicking motion at all there.

Nice late Christmas gift to the Blues courtesy of the boobs in the replay booth.

Wow, what a thrill that winter classic was in LA; why didn't Gretsky and Emilio Estevez do the ceremonial face off pregame?

And Kiss?

Seriously? And they played Detroit Rock City, priceless.

Must been fun for the goalies all decked out in that gear in 65 degree weather, much like some moron at a car wash in Miami in July dressed in a bear suit holding a 50% off today sign..................

George I agree, that goal looked good to me but never look a gift horse in the mouth!
I also agree that out door game in LA was stupid, absolutely no atmosphere at all.
Personally I bet the players when talking amoung themselves hate playing out doors!

The concept is fine with me, pond hockey was always a blast, played more times that I can count, but it's not a pond, it's a rink stuck in a stadium where it doesn't belong being watched by fans who are freezing their rear ends off. The sight lines at Fenway for the Bruins/Flyers game were horrible, best sight lines were the roofbox seats behind home plate.

Plus they've had snow now for two of the games, what do they do if it rains? The game was delayed today because it was too sunny, too much glare on the ice.

Beautiful.

And an outdoor game on the left coast is idiotic on so many levels it's not even worth discussing.

Oshie! That guy put on a show in the shootout today against the Russians. He saved their bacon more than once. Great win.

Loved the Voynov comment after the game regarding the disallowed goal by Tyutin where the goal became "dislodged by Quick..........wink, wink, nudge, nudge"......"I play with him; I know that's his style."

Should make for an interesting Kings locker room in that hockey hotbed out in LA...............

Oshie, that,s my boy. He is automatic on shootouts during the regular season. My wife and I kept looking at one another in amazement when TJ kept coming back and back for those shootouts.
Hate to say this but Russia got screwed having that goal waived off, but that,s what they get for being communist!:)

If I understood the commentators correctly, the international rule is different from the NHL and so it was apparently the proper call. Luckily Quick knew the rules and pointed it out to the refs immediately after the goal. Fun game. I don't really like letting one guy shoot over and over again in the shootout after the first three shooters, though. It worked to the US advantage today, but it's a strange way to decide a game. The US didn't use Kane and the Russians didn't use Ovechken in the shootout.

I might be in the minority, but I do not like shootouts deciding games at any level, in the NHL, Olympics etc.

Great game though, I am just sorry that it had to end like that.

Combat, you are correct, I also heard that that is the international rule, my point being if Quick intentially dislodged it.
I heard some commentator on the radio state that Oshie was picked to the US team because his specialty was in shoot outs. No, this guy plays a complete game.

Who needs the NHL? Nearly 300 penalty minutes in the AHL game between the Adirondack Phantoms and Portland Pirates. Not quite surpassing the record of 529. The commentator in this clip cracked me up. He is like the guy who called the games in "Slapshot." Some great names for these players.

Where were the Hanson Brothers? Ole time hockey, eh!

"Here comes Cal Heeter!" I love the AHL. The boy scouts bring the flag out and some elementary kids sing the national anthem. My Hershey Bears are surging. 12 wins in a row at home.

The Russians are out, they lose 3-1.

Wow.

How about double WOW.

And in other news, the closing ceremonies have been rescheduled to 15 minutes from now; everybody please leave, the games are over.

The Germans who surrendered at Stalingrad were treated better by the Russians than these guys are going to be; my advice to any of them is leave the country now, as in ASAP.
