Man, I hope the Canes can bounce back after giving up two lame goals in the 1st period. Not looking good.....

Well, there was another lame goal in the 3rd, and then there was the near goal by Staal near the end. Really, that was such a winnable game. I have confidence in Game 2.

Wings all the way, I thought for sure they would be done w/o three of their studs in the line up like lids, dats and draps but they just moved on like a well oiled machine.

You know Hossa is gonna be looking forward to a Detroit vs. Pitts final.

Chicago became unglued yesterday!
Pens and Wings in the finals, gotta root for the Pens!
Gary

Yeah they wiill probably win, so hossa gets his ring. I wonder if he will sign elsewhere for the $ now. Cant see the wings fitting him in, unless its like a 10yr deal.

I would say if Hossa gets his ring then there is a good chance he might be out of here unless Holland can free up some money. Drapes, Maltby and Chelios are getting up there in age so retirement may not be to far down the road for those guys which would free some funds up.

Sad day in the hockey world, peter is a real nice guy, ive met him before. He was on the leafs when they were last decent, poor guy.

Former NHL player Peter Zezel is near death in a Toronto hospital, as he has been taken off life support after suffering from a blood disorder that became worse this week.

Zezel, 44, spent the last 10 years being treated for haemolytic anaemia, a rare disorder in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than the body can replace them.

The Toronto native played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks.

With 873 games played in his NHL career, he's best remembered for his tenure in Toronto. He scored 50 goals and 128 points in four seasons with the Maple Leafs and helped guide the club to back-to-back appearances in the conference finals in 1993 and 1994.

Hockey was not the only sport where Zezel excelled. He also played with the Toronto Blizzard of the North American Soccer League and the North York Rockets of the Canadian Soccer League.

Zezel retired from his NHL playing career after the 1998-99 season and ran hockey camps in his hometown for the last 11 years.

He was also a popular guest on TSN's Off The Record with Michael Landsberg, making 19 appearances on the guest panel and discussing all the latest issues in hockey. His most recent appearance on the show was May 7.

Yes that is sad news, remember when he played for the Blues.
I believe he also was in some hockey movie, It wasn,t Slapshot, but I can,t think of it now, maybe Slapshot 2?

Former NHL player Peter Zezel passed away at a Toronto hospital on Tuesday, after a long battle with a blood disorder.

His family released the following statement:

"Peter will forever be remembered as a great teammate and a wonderful individual, who touched the lives of many both on and off the ice. In his typical character of generosity, Peter has donated his organs through the Trillium Gift of Life Network. We would like to thank all of Peter's friends and family for their support and we ask for privacy during this difficult time."

The Toronto native played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks.

"The hockey community has suffered a great loss today," said NHLPA Director of Player Affairs Glenn Healy in a statement. "Peter was a friend and a great family man who was well liked by everyone he crossed paths with in our game. Our thoughts are with Peter's family and many friends during this difficult time."

The PENS did it! SWEEP!

Oh boy, not sure they will fare much better than last year against the West but I am truly surprised with their end of the year surge, boy, could be a magical year in Pittsburgh if they win it all. That will be it until Football season as we all know the old Pirates are not going to do much in baseball, another doormat season there I am afraid.

TD

They will go as far as sid, malkin, & fluery will take them. Hope they win.

Detroit vs. Pitts, should be another good series. I hope my wings can get some of their injured players back. Lids and Dats should be good to go by Sat.

I am picking the Penguins in 7 this time. I like to go with a hot team. I do not believe it was just Malkin and Crosby who beat the Hurricanes. The Canes had decent success against them during the regular season. It was a combination of those things and being on a hot team (look at Fleury's play during the last round) that allowed them to sweep another hot team. Malkin, especially, has been tremendous lately. Those factors, combined with experience from last year (which obviously Detroit has too), and hunger from losing last year, should help the Penguins not get that deer in the headlights feeling.

GO WINGS!!!!!! C'mon lets hope Drapes and Dats are back for game 3 to add more fire power to the lineup.
