Dustin Brown is playing some hockey for the Kings. 6-0 on the road. Smith played the game of his life for the Coyotes and they still lose at home. I'm hoping the Rangers and Devils go seven and beat each other senseless.

Saw tthe game in THE City tonight. Fantastic. Rangers will wn the Series!

Brad-
You are declaring victory after one game? That's confidence. I think this series goes six or seven. I would like to see NY and LA in the finals.

Doug,

More like a little inebriated self confidence. I met a few friends for dinner and then when the game started we went to a watering hole next door. During the second period, you could hear some people cursing ("score a bleepin' goal already!"). Then, when they finally scored, the whole place erupted and you could also hear cheering outside. Lot of fun.

I think if the Rangers can win game 2, it might be shorter than seven. Otherwise, it will be seven. Had the Rangers lost last night, they would have been in trouble.

The Kings win again on the road despite some of the dirtiest play so far. The slash by the Coyotes goalie on a defenseless player topped anything I've seen this year in sports except for the Artest elbow. But the NHL likely won't suspend him because it would put a fork in Phoenix. They will stick it to some no name player on the team instead.

That was a good slash! And the LA player got an embellishing penalty to boot.
As a policeman that, the back of the leg-knee area, is where we were taught to strike a subject with our nightstick as it causes temporary paralysis!

The Kings look like destiny's darlings for sure; Phoenix had no shot last night, a whitewashing for sure.

If there is a sports God, the Rangers get to the finals and lose, so in the end, the Kings would have taken out the #1, #2 and #3 seeds in the West and the #1 seed in the East, if it happens perhaps the greatest playoff run ever...................

I think the Kings could beat the "27" Yankees!
Gary

They were sluggish last night but a win is a win. Having Quick in the goal gives them a ton of confidence. I loved the camera shots of the Phoenix coach. I thought his head was going to explode like that guy in "Scanners." Every time they cut to him he was mumbling a well know profanity.

The worst thing about watching the NHL playoffs is having to see that Charles Barkley weight watchers commercial over and over. The one in the dress with his raspy voice like he has been on some kind of manic binge. Second worst is that commercial where the mother and daughter are blubbering while shopping for a mobile phone. If I have to see that one again, I might go Elvis on the TV.

The Kings were lucky to get a split at home. They only score two goals in two games. Hopefully they are not peaking out. Four chances to close out Phoenix. They have been unbelievable on the road. So game five will be interesting to see if they return to form and (I think) break a playoff record for most consecutive road wins.

Tonight could be a little chippy. Prust was given a one game suspension by Brendan "let's see how I can screw the Rangers" Shanahan for his hit on Volchenkov. This led to Tortorella complaining about a lack of interference calls on the Devils and the failure of Shanahan to discipline Parise for his hit on Del Zotto, which the Devils coach called "comical." On top of all that, this is a game the Devils really need. Based upon the Rangers history in the 2012 playoffs, they will probably lose game 4.

It's difficult to argue that the series is not trending the Devils way. Almost all the play has been in the Rangers zone and they're probably tired out after playing 18 games. On the other hand, Devils needed to win game 4 just as Rangers need to win game 5. If Rangers go back to NJ down a game, they could be in serious trouble, particularly with their offense.

That's a lot of games for the Rangers and now this series will go at least six. The Kings have played only 13 games and can close out tonight. Hockey is one sport where fatigue is a huge factor in the playoffs. I recall one of the announcers saying that few teams win the Stanley Cup without a four or five game series in the playoffs. They take a beating.

I also heard some stat about there's never been a team that won a cup that has played two seven game series or something like that on the way to the Cup. Considering the fatigue factor that makes sense.

The Rangers should thank their lucky stars for their goalie as were it not for him, they would be been bounced from the playoffs by now.

They managed to avoid playing Pittsburg, Philadelphia and the Bruins, yet have been taken to the limit by the #8 and #7 seeds and are in a war with the #6 seed, not impressive in the least.

Maybe so but they are only two wins from the final as are the number 6 seed, not too shabby, eh?

Not sure where that info came from, the NYT or Mike Francesa ..... both are full of manure. :rolleyes2: The Bruins played and won 3 seven game series on their way to 2011 Cup.

Can't remember where I heard it from but it wasn't Mike. I guess you must be a Jets fan :D

The Kings get a week off before the Stanley Cup finals begin. Not sure if that is good or bad. They have been playing so well they might lose their edge. 10 in a row on the road in the playoffs is a new record. 12-2 overall. They blitzkrieg the #1, 2 and 3 teams in the West.
