Well folks, after waiting for my birthday gift from the Mrs. for what seemed like forever, my new Landing Craft finally arrived. She's lean and mean, and a pretty heavy piece (not talking about the Mrs. {sm4}).

DD329 is a unique set and will hold a special place in my K&C collection. With 17 x 4.5 inch measurements, it is a hard vehicle to photograph with shorter backgrounds.

Here it is pictured with some of my D-Day US collection. I may even set up a little German opposition with a bunker and gun down the road.

Special thanks to the K&C crew for providing collectors like me another opportunity to obtain a Landing Craft. {bravo}}

Next on my wish list is that pontoon bridge I always wanted...

Iconic piece for the series, you will have a lot of fun with this Rob. I like the K&C D-day brochure showing the ramp up and 20 Marines huddled together about to embark on shore. Robin.

Hi Guys,

Broke out the German opposition this morning and really enjoyed creating this little tabletop battle:

Thanks for commenting Robin. I am really enjoying the new piece. The brochure is nice as well; love the cover art!

Looks good Rob. I have one of the older Landing Craft from K&C but have yet to photograph it in a dio.

This new version looks nice.

Would like to see it in a color shot if you have the chance sometime soon.

Fantastic Rob! Did you create the groundwork? It goes perfectly with the bunkers, accessories and figures. I think both of the land segments are wonderful, but the one on the right with stone gun turret is particularly special. The multiple levels designed into the pieces are really well done. Thanks for the photos!

Joe

Looks wonderful, Rob.
Like you, I ordered the LCVP as one of my Birthday presents and hopefully I will see the arrival this coming week.
My scene will be the Pacific so maybe a backdrop of ocean and jungle will be easier, we'll see ..:rolleyes2:

Great beach arrangements of the German forces. These landing forces really walked into HE11.

Terrific diorama Rob and it's great to see the LCVP reissued for those that missed out, I was lucky to secure the earlier PA26-22 version which is presently delivering the TGM Aussie Donkey and Aussie soldiers to a remote beach somewhere in the Pacific. The Donkey is reluctant to leave the safety of the Landing Craft as it looks dangerous for Donkeys in the jungle.

Yes, lucky to score a few of the earlier ones also. Robin.

Wow, Robin .... what a fantastic beachhead setup ...{sm3}

The activity and complexity is quite evident with all the figures and vehicles unloading and the wounded getting taken back to the ships.
You have quite an assortment of Pacific items ..

Nice way to start my Monday ... a great scene from ROBIN!!!!

What is the KA16-17 LCVP craft?

Robin, just noticed ... is that a Thomas Gunn RS-01; Japanese Ka-Mi tank?...{eek3}

They are impossible to find ... GREEN with envy.

Hey Larry. There was one on Ebay.uk a few weeks back the same time as the Chi-Ha which was higher on my list with a come and buy now price of £150. It did take long for someone to snap it up.

Awesome photos of the landing craft from both WesternOutlaw and villagehorse! I’m really tempted to order this item now...

Great dioramas. My landing craft is on its way to my dealer
guy:)

I am impressed that there was even one on eBay, regardless of the price.
I faithfully look on eBay, Treefrog, and other locations but never see one to even bid on it.
So just to see one is a treat.

I do not follow the issues of "SHIPPING" to closely but I suspect even if one came up for sale and I won the shipping would be a killer.

But to get one, I might even bite the lip and go for it.

Thank, Steve,

Thank you all for the very nice feedback.
Love your dio as well Robin, thanks for sharing.
Duke had asked if I could post a color shot; here's the same picture in color:

I will be returning to the N. African desert in the near future.

Really like those defensive positions, definitely an Atlantic wall feel about it. Robin.

Nice rendition of the LCVP, looks like a good replica of the D-Day Museum restored craft. Looking at the serial numbers on the models and noted a couple of things. PA06-44 is not historical, no APA06 on record, but must be in honor of the D-Day date. PA26-21 is a landing craft from the USS Samuel Chase. She, the Chase, served in all the major invasions in N Africa and the Med in addition to Overlord. Her LCVPs were assigned to land elements of the 1st Division on Easy Red beach, one of the eastern most zones. So she would not have necessarily landed the Rangers. But the LCVPs Andy has provided are a most welcome addition. :salute:: Maybe this is rivet counting. I'm in the process of collecting the Rangers for a dio I'll provide later. Chris

No Chris, there is a APA-06.
It is the USS Heywood. She was a troop transport … BUT … only used in the Pacific.
See the following link to read a bit about the ship!

USS Heywood (APA-6) was a Heywood-class attack transport acquired by the U.S. Navy for service as a troop carrier just prior to World War II. She served in the Pacific War, a very dangerous area in the early years of the war, and safely returned home post-war with seven battle stars to her credit.
