Nous sommes touts Sauvages-1759 (2 Viewers)

I can hear it now. A bit like the end of the old Tin-Tin programmes on TV.

Tune in next week for more "REB'S ADVENTURES OF HAMISH".

Granted, it doesn't have quite the same ring about it.....:D:D:D
Keep the adventures coming please Reb.

Cheers

Next episode by request of "impatient" H the Heid.

Another group of Rangers play the Abenaki at their own game and skirt the fight by approaching from the tree-line perimeter of the clearing

DSC07867.jpg

The four Rangers with muskets blazing catch the Indians completely unawares who were closing in on Hamish and his colleagues

DSC07819.jpg

They quickly pick up their discarded muskets to deal with this unexpected attack. While Long Tooth swings his aim from the wild Scot to the charging Rangers

DSC07890.jpg

But the Rangers rampage is having a devastating effect on the warriors who were about to close in for the kill on the beleagured trio

DSC07840.jpg

The Abenaki move towards this new threat before the odds change in favor of the Ranger group.

Reb,

Well worth the wait :) Just out of curiosity how long does this kind of set-up take you?

Jeff

I will love to have some dead soldiers to add in my DIO, they look great and add reality to the photos.

Great job Reb, thanks for posting.

Rod.

Hoots Mon....thanks for the fix Reb. Certain I saw Hamish lurking about in the undergrowth there.
Funnily enough, I've never heard a Scotsman saying "Hoots Mon" in my life....but then again, it's been a pretty sheltered one.....:D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Cheers

Hi Jeff

Doesn't take that long as I've built a Woodland dio terrain 4'X4' alongside the Civil War terrain. The self built trees are positioned either as singles or in groups on grass flocked resin bases making it quite easy to completely change the look of the forest for each seperate scene or episode and then scattering forest litter/bushes/foliage/earth/rocks and grass to cover the joins and also the bases of the figures to give them a little more authenticity of standing on their feet rather than standing on an ugly metal base.

That's one thing I've learned from just collecting toy soldiers to then displaying them in dios is to always try and disguise the figures base stands. Now in a forest or field or rubble or desert terrain that's quite easy by using any of the above, not so easy when you want to do a "parade" type dio especially if the figures all have different colored bases. Dont know what that's got to do with your question but I've added it anyway

Thanks for your comments

Och, I'm well aware that you know this Reb but maybe other members don't. A good trick I learned from Randy and his amazing little vignettes is to take a photo at ground level then crop the figure base out of the picture. It certainly works in some angles.

With his back briefly protected Campbell swiftly disposed of his two assailants to his front using his trusty cutlass and knife

DSC07948.jpg

Long Tooth however had now reloaded his musket and was aiming at the burley Scot. As he slowly squeezed the trigger from behind him came the sound of cracking wood........

DSC07959.jpg

He managed to throw up his musket to stop this ranger's axe from cleaving his skull in two but was unable to deflect Lieutenant Charles Vance's knife as he felt it rip into his stomach

DSC07990.jpg

Vance sheathed his knife and now pulled his flintlock pistol; and shouted over his shoulder
"Hamish! Are you well"
"Aye Lootenant! And I thank ye kindly"
"Hamish! I suggest we use this brief lull and link up- if we can- with our other colleagues to your right"
"Lead on sir, I'll be right behind ye"

DSC08269.jpg

As Vance and Campbell scrambled to join the rear echelon Ensign Avery's front ranger echelon were being overwhelmed by the Abenaki war-band, although fighting desperately there were too many Indian and the ranger casualties were mounting reducing their fire power.

DSC08283.jpg

A French prisoner that Avery had captured at St Francis now saw a chance to escape the ranger group-afterall the Abenaki were his allies. But has he started to crawl away from the melee a large brutal looking warrior grabbed him causing the French officer to scream
"Mon Dieu! Non! Non! Je suis un ami! Je suis un ami"
But the Indian blood-lust was raging high as the war club descended onto the Frenchman's skull....the word "ami" dying on his lips

DSC08241.jpg

Leaving some of their warriors to finish off Avery's wounded rangers a large group broke off the fight and moved towards the sound of gun-fire where the next group of white devils had now banded together.
The Abenaki intent was very clear. No prisoner's

Reb superb montage you offer so many possibilities of great scenarios.

Do you mind if I ask how you find your trees, did you made then?

Rod.

Hi Rod
Thanks for your comments, Yeah! the trees are all home made cos if you want to buy model trees in 54/60mm scale they cost a heck of a lotta bucks.
The foliage/plants/bushes too are made out of cheap basic hobby kits.
Reb

WOW...they look better than my real backyard trees, from my home.

Cheers my friend.

Rod.

As the Abenaki war-band moved towards the sounds of Vance and his Rangers making a valiant stand they were distracted by the screams of a female resonating through the forest

DSC08963.jpg

The screams were emanating from a female captive who had been rescued from St Francis by the rangers. Lt Vance had left her in the custody of Corporal Moses Jones and three other rangers ordering them to hide in the brush when the fighting broke out.
In sheer hysteria fueled by dreadful memories of her capture and hearing the distant war-whoops in the forest the screaming woman ran out into the clearing only to be grabbed by Jones.

DSC08979.jpg

Too late! seen by the Indian they started to circle for the kill

DSC09156.jpg

Roughly throwing her against a tree Moses Jones yelled at her
"Stay there and dont move or I will shoot you myself"
He added more gently
"There is nowhere to run, they will hunt you down"

DSC09165.jpg

Jones joined his Ranger colleagues and readied themselves for a frontal attack- not only were they outnumbered they had less than a dozen rounds of ball and powder between them.
"Make every shot count boys our lives depend upon it" Jones uttered to the others

DSC09209.jpg

As they awaited the attack one of the Rangers catching sight of something yells
"Movement to our left!"
"Cover it!" ordered Jones thinking Hell this is bad if we have been completely flanked

DSC09289.jpg

What was this threat to the Rangers left flank? It did not bode well!

Once again another excellent chapter. Your choice of figures for each scene is excellent. It's almost like you have had each one commissioned for the photo's. They work very well.

Scott

You're a master tease, ending it like you just did :)

Brad.....I bet it's Daniel Boone - or even better - Hawkeye, coming to the rescue.

Bob.....Where's Hamish..?? He's just the man to sooth the Hysterical Wee Lassie..:D:D;)

Excellent as usual.
Cheers
