Hi Guys,
One of the great things about this hobby and Forum is the opportunity to actually meet and talk with many of the individual “Treefroggers”… in person. Allow me to mention one in particular…
Over the years I have corresponded with “Rob” and got to link up with him at the London Show and talk “all things K&C and toy soldiers” on several occasions.
Back in December 2010, during a break in the show, we were talking about favourite war movies and old British TV shows… One of which was “DANGER UXB!” The story of the Royal Engineers Bomb squads tasked with defusing unexploded German bombs during the Blitz and afterwards.
Rob could not have been more encouraging and helpful when I said I wanted to design and produce a few little figures and vehicles to honour these brave men. Like quite a few of you guys I happily shared and exchanged my thoughts on what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. Of course, in this case, I added… “But keep it under your hat!” Although as excited as myself Rob was, as always, as good as his word.
It’s an added pleasure and delight to see his latest dio (featuring the “DANGER UXB!” sets) which I consider one of his finest.
Like the vast majority of toy soldiers collectors everywhere… he loves what he collects… He has a huge amount of fun displaying and creating “scenarios” with it… He never disparages what others might prefer… He goes out of his way to be pleasant and helpful whenever he can to all and sundry…
I’m proud to have him as a friend… and an “unofficial” K&C colleague!
All the very best mate and keep up the great work. Happy collecting.
