Here is a Conte plastic 82nd Airborne trooper. I used Tamiya acrylics and that was awesome paint. Tell me what you think!

Yes, the paint job appears to look good but, the photo is tooooo dark to really see the detail work.

Here is a much better pic.

Now I can see him!:p Looks good and the more you paint the better they get. I wouldn,t even post a picture of the first few I tried. What did you do to prepare the figure did you use some kind of under coat and did you wash the figure with dish soap or something first because plastic is hard to paint and you don,t want to put all that time in painting only to have all the paint just fall off.

I used model master white plastic primer. And I did wash him b4 i applied the primer. The Conte figures were good, but I want some plastic paratroopers with more detail. Any ideas?

I think some of the early Airfix 1/32 molds are hard to beat for plastic detail, and they're cheap as well.

Hockoy,

That is a really nice paint job! I am impressed at how well you accept the advice of the more experienced modelers and then translate it into really good work. I can listen to the advice of others, but I cannot do nearly as well as you in translating that advice into a finished product. My compliments to you!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Yep.......kickin back, painting some soldiers as TS Ernesto rolls through. We're getting HAMMERED!

Here is a few pics of painted Barzo figures of French/Indian War I painted. Leadmen

Here is Barzo French Artillery from same period. Leadmen

Looking good ledmen!!! You got me wanting to get off my butt and put something together. I like this period in time and it looks like you,ve been busy doing some painting these days. What else have you been up to?

Actually I painted them last winter. I have not worked on any figures except some old Britains all summer. Too much other chasing and yard work. Leadmen

I,ve been on the lazy side lately, that and work. I did do a few more mexican conversion though and some day will get around to painting them.:p Might try and do a small plastic alamo thing in the future with maybe a few of the new metals added???
I think that pink foam stuff could make up a small alamo pretty easy.

I have no trouble coming up with ideas of what I want to paint, napoleonics, F&I war, wwll etc. etc. But production does not keep up with ideas for dioramas or painting figures. I still got about 30 mounted Historex French Cavalry I say I am going to do. The kits are time consuming.:( Guess I better start something before all the paints dry out. Now when I come back from Chicago Show I will probably have more San Diego and Conte guys to paint. John

Leadmen really enjoyed the pics. Every time I think I am ok with what I'm doing someone has to go and show a new era;) Now I am going to have to get a f/i arty set. What do you think of the Barzo figures? Are they east to paint ? How is the detail, well defined?

Hey I was admiring those pics again. What did you do to the barrell? I can see that it is glossy but it looks like it has purple highlights. Is this lighting and fingerprint reflections, or did you do something for the effect?

Barzo figures are a resin material. It is hard to trim figures, especially undercuts but with knife and clippers you can remove them. Sculpts are nice and I enjoyed painting them. Barrel was done according to references I have. Barrel was gloss Tamiya or semi-gloss paint with brass trim on top. No real shading- lights probably showed barrel. Thanks guys. Leadmen
