Phoenix Model Miniatures-in production anywhere? (1 Viewer)

Revelling in nostalgia here, are we? I have some of the Atlantis range buxom women, including the wrestling pair, bought during my earlier untutored years (!!!) which, without further adornment, would be unsuitable for posting on these threads...:)

I had painted the chamber musicians for a friend's collection many years ago. Excellent pieces (including the above maidens...:))).

Ah, yes, the Atlantis figures! They show up in contemporary catalogs today, too. Quartermaster Corps has sold copies of them in his catalog, and there is a Canadian eBay seller who offers them as well.

Yes, I really like the Georgian range of figures. They fit relatively well with Staddens, since they're a robust 54mm. Each figure has some character, too, reflected in facial expressions and poses, and they provide opportunities to put together scenes of everyday activities, not just battle. Of course, that's true of all of the Phoenix catalog.

If I'm not mistaken, Phoenix also made vacuformed walls to make box dioramas. I'd love to find some, or it would be great if the molds were still available, and someone would produce them again.

Prost!

Hi All,

I notice that the S&D website has been updated and many of their pieces, including the Victorian wagons, are now available. Maybe worth your while to take a look.

Thanks for the update, Vic!

I've been picking up the occasional kit on eBay. Most recently, I snagged a couple of the sedan chair kits. I have three now. I need to get cracking painting them.

Prost!

Hi
Just jumping in here. I’ve checked in the website for phoenix. What is the size you look for with the 54 mm figures.
Cheers

Hi David.

It's 1/32. I bought some a few months ago. The castings are very good.

Good Afternoon.
I’ve picked up some older castings from phoenix. Would someone know a great website on buttembly the furniture? I have 3 pieces that I have no idea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take pictures of the parts and I can have a look at them and give some advice because I have buttembled many sets by Phoenix.

John

Yeah, pictures will help. Many of the furniture pieces are self-expanatory, because they're so simple. The wing-back chair, for example, is just a left and a right half. Same for the 18th century footstool.

The images on S&D's website could help you, too, to show what the buttembled pieces look like.

Prost!

Thank you. I’ll look again. I need to add some furniture so I have places for the officers to sit.

David, who made the toy soldiers in your scene? Especially the men doing the sword dance? I picked up a pair of those figures, attached to a single metal plate as a base. I don't generally collect Scots, but the piece caught my eye. But I haven't placed the maker yet.

I need to get a picture posted of them.

Prost!

Hi
I have a picture of one piece I can’t figure out. It looks like a single leg for the chairs? I figured out the other 2 that had me stumped. I’ll post a picture when I finish them. The Highland dancers are from Caberfeigh RSDR dancers. Amazing figures really. I wish more company’s would make figures like these.
Thanks for the input.
Cheers

As requested. The other figures are Ensign figures. Very fun to paint. For me anyway.

David,

I have an old catalogue from Phoenix, so I scanned the furniture page, and top right is your chair and you can see how it is buttembled.

Hope that helps,

Ah, yes Caberfeidh! I had forgotten about the brand. I have to compare them closely, though. Mine are a little simpler in their detail. Thanks!

OK, yeah, the 17th-century chair. The two pieces shaped like an F are the sides, and the turned bar is a stretcher that goes between them in front. I see now in John's post and the picture from the catalog that it's F4, so there's a picture of the buttembled piece.

They'll buttemble OK as they are, though my instinct is to use pieces of fine wire as pins in each join, for additional strength.

Prost!
