Hi all
ive just had a marvellous trip to the above, visited several countries and cities, spent a fortune and had a blast visiting and seeing some hobby related places. Id like to share these pics with all as some of them are simply gorgeous and just awesome.

started off with Istanbul. Besides the obvious Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, Dolmace palaces, Blue Mosque and the Basilica, these cost a fortune just for entry fees, I visited this largely unknown diorama museum Hisart. Set up and owned by a pvt rich person, it houses 1000s of models, mostly 1/6, full scale and 1/35. But see the pcs for yourselves.

The previous pics were on Gallipoli and the Ottoman Empire. These were the main themes of this museum. There is also a strong WW2 German theme. From my limited discussion with the ticket seller, the owner commissions a lot of models worldwide.
More pics below. I have a lot of these but it takes time to resize the photos to fit into this site’s format requirements.
Pearl Harbor, Ww1 siege gun, life size Anzac, fall of Constantinople, ww1 tank, ww1 desert encounter.

last three pics are full size. I can’t tell if the elephant armour is original or a reproduction.

More ww2 Germans. Rescue of Mussolini in 1/6 scale.

These are incredible. Thanks for sharing. This museum reminds me of the First World War one in New Zealand that Sir Peter Jackson sponsored.

Hi Matt
glad that y are enjoying this. I guess it is pretty obvious that a considerable sum of money and effort was invested in the setup of this Hisart museum. I hope y all get a chance to visit it as well.

moving on to the Istanbul Army Museum, it featured a lot of small arms, guns and swords but the only grand piece was the large painted diorama.

My next visit was to Budapest! The army museum was closed (bugger) but the National Museum was very delightful and full of exhibits. There were a lot of archaeological displays including one on Roman reconstruction as well.

I took pics of these unusual personalities because of their costumes. You can see the development of the Hussar uniforms.
