Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures with us!! It's all so very interesting and fascinating to see.

I got so lost in viewing your photos that I hated when I got to the end of the line here.

Looks like you had a great trip and saw lots of great things.

Hi Mark

Glad y enjoyed the photos. I’m happy to share these military themed pix with like minded enthusiasts.
Stick around. There’’s a lot more.

In Salzburg, we visited the Hohensalzburg fortress which houses an unexpected militaria collection dedicated mostly to mountain warfare.

Last batch from this magnificent fortress. There are other attractions here as well. Definitely worth a visit.

My kind of vacation. You are lucky to have seen all of those wonderful museums. Mom would never have allowed it...
Great thread & keep it up if you can!

Hi Paddy and John

Yes aah. There were just too many things I saw but you can’t photograph everything …. Hence the best experience is to actually visit these places.

Other attractions include a puppet museum probably inspired by or vice versa the lonely goatherd scene in The sound of music. Back in Salzburg, I visited a small theatre museum which had some of these great theatre scene models.

Hi John

the Hohensalzburg is the Salzburg castle. Nope, didn see the Jason-like skeletons nor the Nap band instruments. Maybe that section was closed for repairs?

This is Munich. Some beautiful top attractions include The Residence. Weird name but great place

I took some pix to share. The tapestries are historically very impt, apparently made in Munich and started some tapestry weaving industry.

In the Munich Natl museum, I found an unexpected rich vein of dioramas. They had a wonderful collection of Catholic Narivity scenes. A couple hundred displays and I took some pics.

Dad says he saw some similar and beautiful dioramas in Italy and Vienna. He's glad to see such a superb one!
Thanks again for sharing.

The whole section was very dark and the walls were just filled with these well lit shadowboxes.
