I am excited to see this release. As a huge fan of the 'Alien' franchise, I hope this lives up to the standards of the earlier releases. Ridley Scott is the man to do it. Since "Prometheus" is a prequel, there will be no familier characters to tie in, but the story line should be sufficient to do that. The trailers look real good and the buzz on this is positive. Hope so. -- Al

Hey guys:

If this anything like the “Alien” franchise was. Then, it will scare the crap out of most you.

Not me because, I’m past watching great Sci-fi horror movies. Why?

Because I like sleeping at night; yeah, I’m not too proud to admit that but the previews look oh so good. It kind of sucks you in doesn’t it?

I can't wait either. Though I have read a number of interviews with Ridley Scott saying that while it exists in the same universe it is not a direct lead in to the Alien films. I hope he is just playing his cards close to his chest.

Aliens is one of my favorite movies especially for the Tech design.

Just saw this movie today and it's a goody! I won't divulge any details but i reckon a sequel would have to be in the pipeline.

Tom,

Did you see it in 3D? My adult sons and I are going to see the 3D version tomorrow.

I am a great fan of the Alien series, terrific stuff. Have seen the Prometheus trailer, very promising.

No mate, just saw it in the normal version which was awesome but I have been told the 3D version is fantastic and comparable with the Avatar movie in 3D.

I saw it yesterday in 3D and besides the fact that the sequel is 1979's Aliens, I agree that a different sequel would be great, focusing on Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and David (Michael Fassbender) journey and fate, specially if its in Ridley Scot's hands. The possibilities in a sequel following their track are endless...

I'm a fan of the first two Alien movies. Just saw this one and it's not particularly scary although it has a couple of gross out scenes. This one reminded me more of 2001. The acting is stiff and the characters not particularly believable or interesting. Still it's better than most. I heard a lot about the 3D but it seemed mostly wasted.

The line about "this is what I choose to believe" blows the credibility of any science person.

Saw it this week, nice film, but to me not on a par with the Alien series, at least with the 1st two. Would rate it 3 or 4 out of 5 (and the 1st Alien movie 5 out of 5!). Still a must watch movie, especially for those that like the Alien series. And yes, a lot of open possibilities for sequels (much like the Star Wars prequels and sequels:wink2:).

Saw the 3D version this week.

Excellent. If you have seen all previous Alien moives and you enjoy hard core science fiction, then this is for you.

The character I enjoyed most was the syntheic human - David.
Very well done movie. Not really a prequel or a sequel IMHO. But fits in with the Alein universe and the beings that populate it.
And hopefully will lead to a sequel of its own eventually.

Saw this a couple of days ago, in 2D version. Agree with others on this thread. Good movie, but not up to same standards as previous Alien flicks. Probably because we know what's going to happen before they ever land on the planet. I liked Aliens the best. Other favorites of the series? Chris

I liked the whole series, but if pushed, I thought 'Aliens' was the best of the lot, too. That said, 'Alien' was the only movie I've seen that scared me since I saw 'Plague of the Zombies' as a youngster. Just thought the whole movie 'Aliens' was topflight from beginning to end. "Game over, man!":wink2: -- Al

I always thought Aliens was the best of those films. My all-time favorite horror/sci-fi film though is John Carpenter's The Thing.

There are movies where the 3D version is superflous and movies where it is a completely different experience. Prometheus is very much the latter. The writing in this movie is imperfect since there are times when the improbable merges with the impossible. It also has some rather damatic leaps in the story line which suggests it might be dramatically improved in a director's cut which restores much of the development footage. This has been the case for several Scott movies, notably Robin Hood and Kingdom of Heaven. Over all though, it is a most impressive blend of suspense, action and mind blowing visual effects. I am not usually a fan of 3D but for this movie anyone who enjoys the best visual experience Hollywood can provide owes it to himself to see this in 3D. I simply had trouble keeping my mouth closed.:wink2: As for the comparison with Alien or its sequels, if you think Ripley was tough, wait until you see Elizabeth Shaw.{eek3}
