Prototype of Figarti G Prototype (3 Viewers)

Fl does repaints. A Winter and Normady camo version is two Panzers not repaints. Crew is different too. Two different part numbers, two different products. Figarti may be old stock; but I doubt it as they usually only produce 100 pieces. TCS AFVs cited are all new! Bottom line either TCS or Figarti would beat FL with the number of new AFV products. Combined they would overwhelm FL by 3:1!

Figarti have only made a "new " Pershing tank and TCS maybe three new moulds in the last two years ^&confuse

As almost an exclusive FL collector, I am quite happy with the FL AFV/APC releases over the last year. I have acquired 3 Panzer IVs and 3 SPWs. Several Jeeps are available which I would like to get, as well. Not to mention the wonderful PaK 38 which is near the top of my list.

The Allied Shermans were also nice releases.

I hope they hold off a couple of months before the next big vehicle release so I can catch up the last few critical pieces I require. Then I will be ready for another flurry of Normandy Panzer IV Hs, winter SPWs, Winter Panzer IV F2 and some Allied armor including M3 halftracks.

I personally would prefer quality over quantity. But that is just my opinion.

I agree. I prefer quality over quantity; which is why I only purchase select pieces from the best manufacturers and not just 1/30 scale. Figarti made the best polystone Panther, T34-85 and Jagdpanzer IV all in accurate 1/30 scale. TG made the best polystone Hetzer in accurate 1/30 scale. TCS made the best and most detailed Stug III and a late Jagdpanther in 1/28 scale; which go perfectly with TCS and K&C 1/28 scale figures. I also have 1/35 and 1/32 AFVs because not all AFVs of interest are made in 1/30-1/28 scales. The FOV early Jagdpanther, Jagdtiger and Pershing are superior in detail and accuracy to avaiable polystone models. Despite comments otherwise 1/32 is still a viable Toy Soldier scale.

I like to combine the best of various manufacturers products. The Figarti Panther G works well with both FL and WB figures. The same applies to the TG Hetzer; why limit yourself to one manufacturer when a wealth of compatable AFVs are available from competing companies. I look forward to when FL produces late war armor; which is my particular interest. I appreciate the quality of FL products; but I find other companies produce equivalent products at considerably lower prices. I like Ferraris and Mercedes Benz cars. I drive a 20 year old BMW 325is; which I would not trade for either marque. I prefer reliability to fashion!

You and I will never agree that the FoV products are a good match for FL. We will have to agree to disagree on that. I used to have a fair number but sold all but the Flakvierling and Opel Blitz which I think work well as background pieces.

I do have an extensive Figarti gun and vehicle collection (3 of the latest Figarti Tigers, a Winter Panther, Normany Stuka zu Fuss, Figarti 88) and some TGM vehicles, but they all work with my FL collection. I also have a bunch of Russian figures for my medieval, Roman and ancient Greek lines.

I think the Figarti Panthers were $249 each, which is not that much cheaper than the FL vehicles. The Tigers were one of the best deals in recent memory at $189 a pop, but seems like that was not sustainable as a business model.

I did not compare FOV with FL or imply they were of equivalent quality! I merely said that FOV produces a number of vehicles; which interest me, but are not availbe in 1/30 scale. The last Tiger Is produced by Figarti were of reduced quality than their earlier pieces i.e. the first Winter and Desert Tiger Is with the recoiling barrel feature. The last version had no figures, the hull hatches did not open and the details on the deck were not well defined. You get what you pay for. IMHO the Panther G was the high point of Figarti armor production; it was all downhill from there, with repaints, fewer features and details. Very dissapointing when you come to appreciate the very best a company can design and manufacture. I collect primarily late war armor and FL does not yet make any. When they do I expect the prices will go up substantially!

Default Re: My FL and FOV
Thank You Greycap for this information. A sad day indeed first 21Century Toys died now FOV.
Certainly explains why prices on Ebay have gone crazy! Looks like 1/32 scale is going to go without armor. Corgi still makes some 1/32 military aircraft; but no armor. Honor Bound and Figarti are history in 1/30 scale, I wonder who will be next to go?

TCS is not out of business and they produced more armor in the last few years than FL.

Your the one coming out with statements that companies are out of business when there not , also how many "New " afv have TCS made in the last two years ? Maybe two ?second there not in the same playing field as FL when it come to detail and there 1/28 scale so what does it matter they don't work with figarti/ FL as there 1/30 scale :wink2:

Figarti new products last 2 years. Panther G, SU-85, SU-100 and Pershing' all in summer/winter camo. 8 new Figarti products is more tham 5 new FL products! Even in decline Figarti is more prolific than FL in AFV products and with a significant price advantage. I will agree that FL has better figures; but Figarti armor and artillery is equivalent in quality to FL and their range was larger IMHO.

I went back and looked at what TCS has announced on the Forum in the last couple of years. This included tanks, motorized vehicles and variants. It amounted to 12 or 13 whereas FL's amounted to 8 or 9. I wouldn't throw Figarti into the mix as they may be a thing of the past. In any event their output is on the decline whereas the other two more or less hold steady. FL may produce less because they have many more ranges than TCS and need to spread their overall output over these ranges.

Correct me if I am wrong; but doesn't FL subcontract its figure production? The variations in size and styles between lines would support that premis.

Brad does that include repaints for TCS ? As the question is about new AFV made in the last two years

Why do you keep going on about FL when you don't Collect them that what I don't get ?

TCS new AFVs made in the last two years; Pershing, Wirbelwind, Sturmtiger, Stug III, Panzer IV. The AFVs were produced in two versions; Winter and Normandy camo with different Kommander figures in each version. Not included are trucks, cars etc. 10 new AFV products in 2 years from the TCS Catalogs, Website and Forum announcements.

I do not collect Space Shuttles; but I enjoy discussing them; their design, missions etc.
I understand that but not the negativity you show to first legion when there AFV are very well detailed like Minichamp which you like , can you explain that to me ^&confuse

Make only five new AFV from TCS all 1/28?

Neil, probably. I went back and counted their announcements regarding AFVs and any motorized vehicle.

Price! The most I paid for any Minichamps Panzer was $150. A first issue Kingtiger and I imported it from Germany from Uwe Rommel in Stuttgart. The rest of my collection cost less than $100 each. A FL Panzer for $300 exceeds what I consider reasonable to pay for a 1/30 scale toy tank.
I would consider paying considerably more for an FOV 1/16 Henchel Turm Kingtiger like you have; if I had the space to display it. My small house barely allows room to display my 1/16 Tamiya M4 and Porsche Turm Kingtiger; plus the 1/15 scale Bandai; Panzer IV, Stug IV and Hummel. I am an armor addict with collections in 1/72, 1/50, 1/35, 1/32, 1/30, 1/28, 1.25, 124, 1/18 and 1/16! I have not yet gotten into 1/6 scale; but the Dragon 1/6 Panzer II is very nice and hard to resist!
