Brian,

The differences have been well covered in the Lt's and Martyn's threads.

I have attached 3 images of the later version of Set SRD (1997) ie: The Storehouse at the Drift.

Please note that there are 6 additional figures from Set HZ52 ie: "Hookey leads them out" in the second rank of the top and middle images.

The earlier version has 24 figures while the later version has 16 figures only.

Of the "missing 8" figures in the later version, 6 were put into a new Set HZ52 and the remaining 2 must have been eliminated.

As Damian has said, there are also differences in the poses of some figures eg: Lt. Bromhead, Cpl. Schiess, Storekeeper Louis Byrne.

Hope this is of some help and not more confusing.

Best, Raymond.

PS: I wonder if Little Legion will march out Storehouse and Hospital sets.

Raymond,

Thank you, for posting the 2nd version. I am very tempted to jump in on the bidding. I just refiananced my mortgage, made the last car payment, so I have a little extra cash every month to play with. If I decide to jump into Trophy what better set to do it with.

I wish LL would do a major set like this, maybe Mike reads the forum.

Martyn,

Thank you for the clear pictures. You guys make it very difficult to avoid the Trophy addiction. I already have a LL problem.

The problem with these big ticket "shock and awe" type products is that they may not be short term money spinners. They are sort of slow burn type items. They sort of say something about the manufacturer. Like here we are look at this wonderful creation we have made. We are at the top of our game. However only many years later when people are looking back do they appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into making the item. I know this is a glossy thread (mea culpa) but look at things like the Figarti rail gun or the K and C warbirds. They are expensive and only a few collectors buy them. Years down the line they will be legendary sets. Just like the Trophy boats and Rorkes Drift sets are now. So a manufacturer may not see much short term reward for his efforts with such a set. Mike Norris has intimated that he is doing a central piece for Islandwana namely a limber and 7 pounder trying to escape the Zulus. This should be a great set. Maybe we should all petition him to try and do a Rorkes Drift set like the Trophy one. The only problem is that he already has most of the individual characters and he has some great barricades and hospital interiors. I once asked him about doing some Trophy style boats and he just laughed.

Gentle Friends,
Keep the gloves on...$510 already on the first day!!?! I'll be watching this match from the sideline, to avoid getting bloody!
Mike

With the price it realized hopefully, more sets will be put up for sale.

I wonder if somebody on the forum purchased the storehouse. Just wondering

Hawkeye,

I won the auction. I'm new to the forum. I reckon I'll get trounced for paying too much, but there was at least one other person who wanted this set almost as much as I did.

I started out 15 years ago scraping my allowances together to purchase the Hand to Hand Zulu and Boxer sets. Then I discovered girls and beer, and went to college. I've just recently gotten back into collecting toy soldiers. I'm kicking myself for not buying some of the larger sets years ago. I try to tell myself that the higher prices I'm paying are punishment for not focusing on Trophy years ago. On the other hand, I also find it hard to put a price on the most beautiful soldiers in the existence.

When I get the basement finished, I'll set up some dioramas and post my collection. My wife doesn't like my troops to set up camp around her religious statuary.

Hello Dave,

A very warm welcome to the Forum !!

My congratulations on your winning the "Storehouse".

It is never too late to start collecting toy soldiers, especially Trophy.

I am sure the other Trophy fans will welcome your first post on the forum with news of your win.

Well Done!

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Dave,
Of course I wanted it as much as the next guy, but am overextended at the moment, and glad that a true Trophy lover has gotten this beautiful set. A big welcome to the forum! The more Trophy collectors the merrier. You'll find the guys here most helpful, as good comrades should be!

Now tell the better half that the British Army in the Victorian age was quite religious, though the other ranks were halfhearted for the most part. So push her stuff out of the way to make room for your collection. It is a case of mental health tell her:p
Mike

Mike,

She didn't appreciate it when my Boxer Rebellion French Marines set up a perimeter around Our Lady of Lourdes. Or when my Crimean Russian artillery bombarded her Christmas Village. Or when my WWI Tommies held her carolers at gun-point. Then again, maybe it's my fault.

Work on the basement and don't mess with the religous stuff - you don't want to tick off God or your wife:):)
