Have been watching a few auctions recently and I see SUdan Camel Corp figures of whatever regiment are demanding a premium as ar Waterloo Scots Guards and Dutch Lancers. No signs of any let up in the demand for Trophy.
I am glad I got most of my sets when I did.

Me too Damian. {bravo}}

Cheers

Is this the highest price paid for a Hand 2 Hand Set? Auctions finished last night

$250 for HZ18

FW1 also went for a very healthy $179.50

All this, apparently, with no International bids

Not all the hand to hand sets make a killing.
Some of the earlier ones seem to languish a bit.
I presume more of them were made.
There are a few on OTSH at the moment.

I don't think there were that many of any of the later sets, HZ18 through to HZ29, made Damian.

The OTSH sets are at a very sensible price

Wow that is quite a price. Boxer stuff seems to be commanding some of the highest prices around.

I do not think so...it's just two guys (!:) with "unlimited budget" fight each other paying silly prices... good for sellers ^&grin...some BR lots have not sold recently even based on $20-25 a piece prices...
Just my two sent.

I think one is in the States and one in the UK

Actually, Martyn, there was a set of two Royal Welch Fusilier casualties, BS48. I chose not to get into those auction fights. Sometimes I'll go up against the high rollers, but it has to be for something I'm dying for.

Hi Dave

That BS48 set is a rare one, I have the same figures painted as Scots Guards DS31. Both sets are from the mini series "The Ultimate Sacrifice" that Trophy produced due to collectors demand

I think it is safe to say that retired Trophy sets on eBay more often than not command handsome final bid prices. However, the high prices realised do not necessarily reflect their true intrinsic value (however measured).

Some of these high prices are often an aberration due to the competitive bidding process. I fully agree with Al's view that the high prices are often the result of very determined bidding by at least 2 bidders with "unlimited budget". It is also influenced in no small part by the unique and characterictic bidding strategies adopted by some of the "high rollers".

IMHO, Raymond:)

Martyn,
It probably would have but it is missing two horses! The set only comes with four. :(
