Are you sure this is Henry VI, he was Wars of the Roses. I was thinking King John holding the Magna Carta. (1215)

Martin

He came marked Edward iv, but it gave me pause as well. I didn't think about the Magna Carta, but the heraldry by Edward iv would have been the quadrants of the lions and fluer de lys , rather than the three lions. John would have had just the lions, so that's a good possibility.

I think you are right that it is possibly John, the give away to me is that he is in chain mail which is correct for the period except the boots of course. Edward would be in plate armour, correct for the 15th century wars of the roses period.

Here's a pic - which should clinch the idea that it's John - King of England from 1199-1216. It's of his tomb in Worcester Cathedral.

Note the shields on the tomb - Gules ( Red field) 3 lions passant guardant d'or (pale gold) - the Arms of England.

Good name for a King eh? - Johnnybach:D

This one is a sculpt from CK Castings that was painted by the Kolobob painters. It is a viking archer who has just nabbed a poor little goosey!

Did you think you could just passively look at these photos without a little homework? NOPE
This guy was unmarked and I am not sure what it is. It is marked on the bottom with "AD 0715". I am thinking the headdress might give a clue to someone who knows more than me. My feeling is Persian maybe based on the clothing, but I am not an expert, by any means, and really don't know. What do you think - both in what he represents as well as what manufacturer it may be?

Zach, All are fantastic pieces- thanks for sharing the pics! That is an incredible haul of Russian figures!{eek3}
My favorites in this batch:
1) Arsenyev Polish Winged Hussar- This is as good as it gets! What a glorious find- just an absolute eye popper
2) Aeroart- King Leonidas- Congrats on finding one of these. I think this is one of the best figures Thor ever produced. The detail is incredible throughout including the painting on the inside of the shield! It's just a wonderful piece of Russian art.
3) Aeroart- Saladin- Someday I hope to learn how to paint such fine lines, and I mean just a few single straight fine lines! I have no idea how those Russian artists paint such intricate patterns of interlocking, multi-colored lines. The lines are so tiny and the weave complex; it must have taken forever to paint the cape alone!
4) Aeroart- Count Charles d'Albret- one of the casualties at Agincourt -nice prototype of this new release. I'm waiting on the second variant of this piece coming in Sept.....

Cheers,
Joe

Zach,
Wow! I've never seen this one before! It's definitely a Persian with the Falcon Standard with crescent. I believe this figure depicts Cyrus the Great, the warrior King of Persia.
Great figure and pics!
Joe
