(Two minor adaptions for this which involved drilling a 5 mm hole into deck of M274 to take joining pivot.)
And on Tripod mount.

Can't wait until I get mine for Obee to convert the USMC guys to Aussies.
Keep up the great work with the K&C VN range.
Cheers Howard

Two outstanding little Dios. Well done on the use of one of the U.S. M113 riders as the 106 gunner. Can't wait until I get mine for Obee to convert the USMC guys to Aussies.

Sitting figure is Driver from M274 Mule and kneeling figure from VN42 set.
Steve
Good use of that figure as the layer of the 106,
well done,
John
Both look, great mate.
Thanks Gents, now a question for you Aussies. I know the US Army fitted the the 106mm RR to the top of some of their ACAV M113. Did the Aussies also do this during Vietnam War or was it only after ?

Steve mate,
The 106 RCL was test mounted on the M113A1 in the 1990's by 5/7 RAR (Mechanized) Battalion as part of their Anti Armour Platoon. It was short lived and the last known shoot was on Operation Tiger in 1996.
For your intel also the 106 was also trialed on the 3/4 ton Land Rover in early 1980 to give the four man crew more room for their personal gear and additional ammo. The test proved unsuccessful and the idea was "Not Adopted Into Service".
The initial order of 17 guns was ordered from the U.S. Army in Dec 1958 and arrived in OZ in June 1960 and this followed with another order of 51 guns in August 1960. A total of 69 x 1/4 ton Land Rovers were converted to take the gun and many served in NAM with Infantry Battalions mainly in defensive roles around Fire Support Bases. Back blast was always a problem when siting the 106 as the weapon had a "Danger Area" to the rear of 80 feet and a further "Caution Area" of an additional 50 feet.
Cheers Howard
