If you look at the painting, there is a bicorne hatted face to the extreme left. Given the height, I assume that it is a mounted figure. The closest type of soldier to this is one of Napoleon's guides, wearing a chasseurs au cheval green red surtout with green overalls. There is enough space to squeeze in a mounted figure in the scene. So I've decided to knock this mounted figure up with a green shabraque. Horse is a modified Airfix piece.

Finally, I relocated the dragoon and built up the foreground to accomodate his new position.

I resized the frame to test the positioning. The dimensions are closer to the painting.

Victor,

This has to be your best work rendering a 2-D painting in 3-D yet!👍👍. Just amazing!😎😎

Hi Louis and John,

thanks for your gracious compliments. I also live in hope....hahaha.

The modelling aspects of the hobby does seem to get easier now as I progress thru this piece and others. Practice does help, I guess.

Look at how fast I managed to knock up this mtd chasseur guide, even allow that he is a half figure where I focus on only the visible side. Spray painted in grey to highlight any defects.

Here's the chasseur guide, undercoated and then speed painted in oils. I remembered to add a portmanteau. When dry, I'll be adding the sword and horse bits.

I resculpted the tunic of the dead soldier. The uniform was painted in Prussian blue.
The raised foreground on theleft side was also painted.
I also painted the rubbing panel on the wounded horse saddle in red.

Highlights were added to the back of the straddling hussar passing Nap's hat to the little Corsican. I noticed that the sabretache and sword had shifted under gravity. I will have to devise a way to keep them up. Perhaps a thin bent wire....

Also noticed that Nap's horse mane is not that great looking. As he is the focus of this piece, I've decided to redo the mane. So snip snip.....

I've completed the necessary details and rigging on this chasseur. Maybe I should have taken up ship modelling....:) Time to paint it.

I can't wait to add him to the scene to complete it.

I fitted the last figure into the scene. I can now start to add the final details.

Hi Louis and all,

Thanks for your very kind and gracious words. I really don't deserve it. Still learning as I go along.

The sheer excitement of reaching the touchline is what is really propelling this.

I'm now doing the touchups and details so will show the progress when more is accomplished.

Added the details that I wanted. Some horsehair, sculpted and tightened the details on the foreground figures, the hidden figures in the background. I added foliage to the scene.

Here is the completed scene before box up. I think that the foliage really 'lifts' the scene.

I couldn't take any meaningful pics of the insides and decided to wait for night.

WONDERFUL !!!

It's been a labour of love to bring this masterpiece to finalisation, and thanks so much for keeping on posting here so that we can see the steps in this progress.

Well done, yet again,

John

Hi John and Louis,

thanks again for your kind words and encouragement. This was a rather challenging project (they all were at the time...). Hopefully, the next one is easier.
