Wonder how much the elephant and riders may cost.

This may be one of those sets that be a must have even if you don't collect the period.

The looks great and will certainly look at, depends on Price and space as with all of us. Interesting it is number ROM48, meaning we have some great future sets in the near future.

What kind of Elephant is being portrayed in the sculpture? The cranial structure is strange!

The Romans used captured Macedonian War elephants which had been imported from India. The Carthaginians used Syrian Elephants which were a western species of the Indian Elephant. The African Forest Elephant was sometimes used; but was smaller and more difficult to train than the Indian.

I would say it was an Indian elephant as denoted by the shape of the ears. African elephants don't possess that large cranial bulge either.

Just to put your comment into context Carthage was destroyed in 146BC which is same year when Rome destroyed the city of Corinth after the 4th and final Macedonian war ended.

Any guess when we will see this, so the budget will exclusively be for this one on that month.:)

We should have a sample on display at the London show in March for all of those going, please come and see us at the Maison Militaire stand!

I would like to buy unpainted castings of the crew and elephant if that is possible.
