Great photos! The Aero Art example is what an Asian Elephant should look like in both size and proportions relative to the human figures.

Back in 2013 I visited The Toy soldier museum in Pennsylvania. Here are a few photos of war elephants in his collection to compare with the TG elephant. Obviously the TG elephant will be much more affordable for collectors, I'm definitely getting one. View attachment 209001View attachment 209002View attachment 209003

That "Cesar" elephant is amazing! I have the two others, but that's the best one!

Excellent photos !

Thank you.

A great piece to add high interest to an already excellent series.
I feel drawn to the piece and compelled to purchase because I like it.
Being aware of the evolutionary changes over two thousand years, I find no epistemic argumentation here to gainsay my choice.
The Aero Art pieces are incomparable as is their price, but their epistemic proof of the ratio of human to beast? Unfounded; it still comes down to what I like.
Well done TGM :salute::and thanks Wayne for posting.

I agree. I'm buying it because I really like it

I prefer epistemic to emotional decisions. I think it would be quite simple for TG to emulate the Aero Art Elephants proportions in their prototype and also refine the cranium. TG would than have the best production War Elephant of the three currently on the market or pending production.

The distinction between what is and what could be is sublime; better to always opt for excellence IMO.

if that works for you, that's great and you should keep doing it. For me, I buy what I like - I don't let measurements dictate my likes

If it's to scale, great, but if I like it, and it's not to scale, or perfectly accurate anatomically or historically, so be it

Same here just waiting to order it. I got my fingers crossed that it will come out before the summer...

We will have 2 at London, the first batch of 50 will follow hopefully in May 2017. There will be a limited run of an unpainted kit version which is probably going to be a direct offer only unless we get huge orders from dealers and the demand is there.

I have looked at a lot of Asian Elephants and I have never seen one with a cranial deformation as pronounced as the model. The Seattle Zoo had several Asian Elephants; which I have visited many times. The typical Asian adult male Elephant is 11 to 12 feet tall (3.4 to 3.7 meters), twice the height of a typical 5'8" Roman Legionary. TG needs to review and correct its prototype before production.

Both TCS and Black Hawk had problems with their War Elephants; both were African Savanna Elephants and the TCS versions trunk was too short! Proportions are very important to the correct appearance of an Elephant, Asian or African.

This one looks quite large

I own elephants from Aeroart to even the collectors showcase ones, you can never own too many elephants. I will be getting the gunn one too, it looks well done to my eye.

Zach the one aero I love but do not have is the one from jim's and is the tiger attack. That is a cool one and I love it!

There's on one the aeroart website with a man walking the elephant... I want that too !

I am not trying to hijack this thread but some of the posts seem to beg some questions about manufactures and elephants. If they are so popular why don't more companies make them? Tom and I have walked around the Westcoaster looking for elephants (ok, that sounds weird) and finding them is virtually impossible. I do not recall which manufacturer it was but I do I recall one dealer even telling Tom that he was the 4th or 5th person that day who had asked about elephants.

Can only put it down to the cost to produce, including the appropriate figures that go hand in hand, place the sale price above most collectors budget. Can remember a nice looking Elephant being graced on the workbench of John Jenkins, which never saw the day of light. I have the TCS 2 versions which are not bad, but the TG looks better. Some of the pieces shown on this thread are almost works of art and dare I say perhaps a little too good for my collection. Robin.

My model maker put together a pack Elephant for me. Robin.

Robin:

In economic terms it makes sense, but the demand is still there. I think what I am trying to say is that I hope that this starts a trend with more manufacturers making quality elephants such as the Thomas Gunn one.
