I bought this series...CS did a great job on them...

the sculpts are excellent...really nice...

as is the painting...very clean...

and the poses are pretty dramatic...full of action...

I intend to get the next batch...hopefully October from what I have heard...

I wish the swords...especially on the Romans...were much larger, much longer and much stronger...

the staff on the bearer could be stronger too...as could the axes...

the swords on the Barbarians seem pretty good...but I wouldn't mind them being a little stronger too...

I like to play with my figures and don't want to have to be too gentle with them...

it's my understanding that Brian intends to beef them up substantially on the next batch...

Hi Mike. I think the Roman swords (gladius) look pretty much in scale. The gladius were pretty short by design, averaging only around 24-28 inches in blade length. -- Al

Wow ... these look amazing I think I might give in and buy these!

Great figures Mike. How do they look along side the first set released by Conte, meaning the winter games set?
Mark

NICE PIC'S MIKE THE FIGURES LOOK VERY GOOD.NICE SCENE'S MIKE B.^&grin^&grin

Was wondering when you'd get around to playing with your newly arrived Romans and Barbarians Michael and as usual nicely staged and photograph my friend..........PapaZ

Great pictures of some great figures Michael :salute:::salute:::salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

Very nice Michael . . . great additions to your TS collection . . . Always nice to see photos of new products in use rather than the stock photos from the manufacturer . . .

Mark...here's a couple of pics...they look very close to me...the biggest difference is the size of the weapon...

They look very good together.I'm far from an expert but I think the conte gladius is more accurate.

I'm no expert either...but it sure is sturdier...I think Brian is going to beef his up some...hopefully they will match better or identically...

Great diorama photos. The TCS look really great . I agree with you guys on the gladius size but see this as minor. My books on Rome's forces reflect all sorts of different size swords so I think some variation is fine and actually will make things more interesting.
My concern is about the armor and the number of plates on the shoulders. TCS seems to use 3 on each shoulder while Conte and First Legion use five.
The Legionaiire in Flying Barbarian set really shows the difference in the photo where he is in the center of 2 TCS fellas.
I've rechecked my books and best I can tell 5 plates is correct and this is based upon archaeological finds. I must also say that the same photo really gives a good comparison of the helmets and I really like the one on he Roman defending against the flying German.

I think beefing up the sword is important in regards to the any bending that might occur in transit. We've heard this from others so we've beefed up the next sets a bit more. Not enough to detract from them but still to keep them firmer in transit.

Cheers!

Brian

Brian...thanks...I'm glad you're objective enough to listen to your customers...I personally would prefer a much thicker stronger weapon...from sword to axe to staff...even if it's a little oversized...I want a figure I can play with...not just look at...thanks for listening and responding...

Brian...gotta give you credit...this is a nice action set....the Barbarian slashing the throat of the Roman...this is my favorite set...you did a really nice job on these sculpts...great poses...
