I've never heard "hoovered" myself. Maybe it's one from dahn sarf or down south for those of us north of the m25! :)

Coming from south of the Watford Gap, I can say I haven't heard that before now. I suspect that it has somewhat to do with "Chav speak", but I could be wrong.

James, are you suggesting that some of us from the Home counties are perhaps found wanting in the pronounciation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's English?.Your avin a Larf!!!!:D

Rob

I first heard it when the comedy duo 'Mel and Sue' sang a version of Slade's 'Merry Xmas' when the line was something like 'Is your Granny getting hoovered on the Punch'?.

The USA played a good game and I enjoyed watching it. I have to disagree with you though on one thing though. I have been listening to Tom Russel quite a lot and I think his greatest song must be " Between the Cracks". I know David Alvin has also recorded a version of it but Tom's version is for me the greatest. He is a worthy successor to Woody, Stepehn Foster and dare I say Pete Seger.

It may be all over for Australia's Rugby UNION Team (Wallabies) but our Kangaroos (a much larger marsupial :) ) are looking good for next years Rugby LEAGUE World Cup after their recent 58 - 0 win against New Zealand in the Trans Tasman Cup ;) :D
