Here is Mignot figure of Saint Denis, who was decapitated in the 3rd century. Legend has it that he picked up his head and walked to the mountain of the martyrs (Montmartre) in Paris before finally dead. He is holding his head.

Glad to see Denys had sense enough left to keep his hat on Mike - he might have caught a cold!:D

Here's another three of my "Royal" personalities.

King George III - from a casting by Dorset Soldiers.

King George V - from a casting by Asset Toy Soldiers.

and - Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - by Britains.

Note that I have about thirty-something "named Knights" - some of whom you may not have heard of. Now they DID exist - would they qualify for inclusion - or do you just want "Celebs"? :D johnnybach

Now that we've entered the realm of the religious, here ya go! This is Pope Alexander VI (rodrigo Brogia), Lucrezia Borgia and Cesare Brogia (all from Aeroart)

All hail the Romanovs!

Czar Nicholas II, Alexandra and Alexei. I'm not sure who did the casting, but the painting is by Niena

Great figures! I have been pondering how to accumulate personality figures from Russian history. I had never known that Dorset and Asset make kings of England. I am tempted to go down the road of purchasing British personality figures from British companies, and French personality figures from French companies.
Here is a Mignot figure of the painter Edgar Degas.

Why Not?????? :D jb

Here's another French "personality" for you Mike. Joan of Arc - courtesy of a casting which originated again from Dorset Soldiers - which is a part copy of an original by Roy Selwyn Smith - who sold it to Britains in the 1950's. ( what a mixture that is!!!!).

Add in some bits and pieces of my own ( and a few parts from other manufacturers) - and you have my version of Saint Joan.

Well - I like her! :D:D jb

French personalities don't com much bigger than the Emperor Napoleon himself. This figure is from a homecast mould by Prince August - and was made for me by a good friend of mine - John Parslow. As usual, I made up a base Stand for his horse to safely stand on. (The canon is another casting from another British Company, by the way - ATS). jb

You wait all day for a Bill to come along - and then two arrive at the same time!:D

William Bonney - also known as Billy the Kid standing - and William F Cody - aka Buffalo Bill on horseback.

Billy the Kid - is from a casting by Whitetower Miniatures - whilst Buffalo Bill is a restored and repainted old Timpo figure.

Florence Nightingale from the Trophy of Wales - Crimean War series

Cheers

Here's Edward Plantaganet - Prince of Wales - otherwise known as, The Black Prince - circa 1356.

From a casting by Tradition of London.

Hi,
Where did you get these Russian flats?
They are incredible!

Thanks,
Picked them up on eBay several years ago, the guy couldn't give them away, went thru several cycles of lowering the price over and over, at the time I was buying strictly Napoleonic and being in Russian I didn't know what the set was, paid less than $50 for this group, they have since become one of my favorites now with the understanding. They are really beautifully done.

This is a Kaestner flat of Albrecht von Wallenstein. He was quite the controversial figure in the Thirty Years War. I would love to have a fully rounded figure, but alas...

QEI and Henry VIII

Both converted from Tradition toy figures many years ago. The cat and dog are Phoenix castings.

Two views of Billy Pesa - First Drum Horse Timpanist for the Mounted First Foreign Legion Cavalry Regimental Mounted Band, on his Drum Horse - pictured here as dressed in 1937 ( from a well known print). Billy was an interesting and well known personality, who claimed he was originally from Camaroon - and had previously played as a timpanist for the Hussars of the Prussian Guard in Berlin in 1914. After WW1 - he joined the French Foreign Legion.

My figure is another from a casting by Tradition of London.
