It does at that....

Leave it to you Maple Leaf to spot that.

Great job!!

Ludwig
For me a bigger mistake is both the upper and lower grey paint is wrong both are to light as on the typhoon and for a plane of this price it should be right .it not a dig at kc it just stating the facts :)

well, there is plenty of time to correct the maple leaf and, it has to be done really

I am a recent convert to the appreciation of 1/30 military figures thanks to Peter Nathan and his colleague Sven here in Sydney. I have just disposed of a large collection of die-cast planes and once had over fifty spitfires in 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72 scales. I've noticed that the King and Country selection of planes have all been covered in the last ten years by Corgi and Hobbymaster and I would be interested to hear what you all think of these resin models. Are they worth a look? Is the resin sturdy/ fragile? How accurate are the representations of the historical subjects?

Please excuse the noob questions. :redface2: Replies from rivet counters appreciated.

I guess I won't be able to put the new Spit up in the air like its "Kiwi" counterpart. :rolleyes2: The look on this pilots face says it all.

Al is only smiling because he isn't aware that a noob student pilot is about to chop off his tail and force ANOTHER bailout. C.f. Nine Lives.

Welcome to the forum !!!

The polystone composition of the aircraft give the model a solid hefty feel to it. I will be buying my 6th K&C warbird here shortly if that is any indicator for you.

I also collected many of the Corgi 1/72 and 1/32 diecast and now collect 1/48 Hobbymaster. The K&C aircraft are not resin - they are polystone and quite heavy and very sturdy. They have a bit less detail than the 1/48 HM and the 1/32 Corgi. The best advice I can give, is see one in person and decide what you think of them then.

depends on what you want and expect from these aircraft. Compared to the detail you get on some of the 1/32nd metal airbirds they fall behind them in that respect for some and, price is a considerable difference. suppose its what you like and what you can or cannot afford that will ultimately decide whether you buy them or not.

I wonder as I have just had chance to look at the spitfire in detail if when the maple leaf is sorted if we are going to get the blue and red triangular pennant for a squadron leader. It was something in his book that he states was on his aircraft at this time. You can buy the decal sets for his aircraft and do it yourself but, I would like to see it added on before final release

I saw the Kiwi Spitfire at my local seller and thought the cockpit interior and pilot were great. Not sure about the rest. Does the model have dihedral?

If polystone and heavy, any chance of the wings "cracking" after some time ?

I haven't seen that specific model, but if you examined it that closely, it would have appeared odd without one. But again, check with the dealer - you never know. The 1/32 Corgi Spitfires were done with no dihedral and the plane looks odd from certain angles. It is hard to spot but one of the Treefroggers figured out exactly what the problem was.

Rob..

Mike stephens was the pilot and, one of many who I met through my grandfather. As you say unbelievable courage
Mitch

That's so great you got to meet him.

I was all set to pre-order this model, to go with the BoB Spit in my collection. Just have to have one with invasion stripes, but now am hesitant with the talk of the incorrect Maple Leaf. It has to be 100% correct at this price.

This was my sticking point, as well. Could be a trick of the lighting, as often happens, but the plane just looks much too light in terms of the grays used. -- Al

I think it looks like a similar colour way to the Typhoon in terms of the camo colours

It looks like the modern one
which did not exsist in WW2
Maybe it will be corrected before release
That would be a sad mistake to screw up
such a nice plane

I can't tell which Maple Leaf is on the K&C airplane from the photos. There were several different ones over time. We would need to see a closeup to tell which one it is.

Terry

There is a discussion here on the "right" mapale leaf that should be on the plane

Gentlemen let me provide you with some MAPLE LEAF research that I did.

Clearly they are all awesome to me however the one dated 1942 would likely be the most accurate. Case closed! {sm4} {sm3} {sm4}
