Some advantages of being on lock down (1 Viewer)

Just outstanding John . . . neat, well organized, stylish, bright . . . . I could go on and on.

Looks good and that your local ikea store did well.

I have been using IKEA Billy Bookcases for many years, so I only needed to order 2 large ones with glass doors to make a total of 7.

Most have glass shelves, but I noticed that some had a slight 'bow' in them and found that the load rating is 5kg!!! My heavy K&C Cavalry are about 400g each, so that means only a dozen per shelf..... oh well, I'll just have to use wooden shelves for massed cavalry charges at Waterloo :) :)

Mike,

the renovated toy soldier room is in the house, my workshop is in the 'back shed' a 6 x 10m building where I have my desk ( my old drafting table) overlooking the garden. It's also got running water, a sink AND the beer fridge :) It's also the only room in the house that has air conditioning and can connect to the house wi-fi !!!

I share the shed with my wife, who is fabric artist / quilter, so most of the time its full of boxes and pieces of fabric that she cuts up into little pieces, then sews back together in patterns .... but I suppose it keeps her busy, just like my painting :) :)

No halftrack on there lol

Oops, ..... I must have shifted the CC Halftrack for TonNT that's been repaired and given a good dusting of Sahara Sand .... just needs it's decals and should be done :)

Then there is a 2nd one that be brought over in the luggage when we met up last December. And I think there's yet another under the table for you ????

Oh well, it will keep me busy .........

Looking great John ... Fantastic to see what you were planning before 2018 coming to fruition now.

After you have the troops fully deployed, hope to see close-ups of your collection with the shelf lighting on ... :salute::

Best regards
OD

I very much like your hobby room.

I've opened some more of my boxes now

Yes, I was planning on posting a new theme with images of all the shelves, just to show off my collection

It's a long way from anywhere for other collectors to have a look at it and I know that you would appreciate another viewing, be only on-line, after your visit down here the other year ..... :)

Thanks for your kind comments about my room, I'm down to filling the last 2 cabinets now ........

WOW, I do love the base you used, looks so good with the masses of Zulus in conflict with the redcoats ..... keep it coming ..... I love to see other collectors setups :)

I've always got something on my table awaiting it's 'lick of paint' for others, but still trying to work my way through my very own 'load of lead' castings :)

Today though, I'll still be filling the cabinets, and trying to complete the shift of the collection, hope to have it done before ANZAC Day :0

The window covering installer came in today and fitted new blinds to the room. We had been waiting for about 4 weeks, and weren't sure that the factory was still operating, but it was, so our job was completed. It's much better now without the sun entering and having the possibility of sun damage to the figures and the reference books.

I'm now over half way with the redeployment of my troops, got 4/7 cabinets full now.

John,

Do you have any close-up photos of your collection? It looks very impressive!

Cheers,

Brendan

I think I'll post a new Thread later on in the week, with closeups of the shelves so you can see what I have on display..... :)

I have nearly filled 5 cabinets, so 50 shelves, and a few more in the last 2 cabinets, but they will email empty for a while, that's my room of expansion area because of the load of lead castings that are awaiting their 'lick of paint' :)
