Congratulations to New Zealand ;) Easily one of the biggest upsets in world cup History . Well played match.... to give Italy 15 corners and have all their attempts to score fail is AMAZING .. Really a brilliant match very enjoyable to watch . All the best Gebhard

I agree.Great match to watch and both teams played very well, very enjoyable and what the world cup is all about, good entertainment.Congrats to both teams.

Couldn't agree more. It was an exciting match to watch. If this group stage is notable for anything, it's for that there are no easy matches. The minnows are fighting back.

Yo Trooper, I know you like your football Brad, but I have watched every game really close since this ball episode was brought up by some of the teams. I can say this I have never seen so many class players having so much trouble trying to pass, control, or shoot with a football, it makes them look like ordinary players. Think I have seen one headed goal from a corner Argentine's first goal, the other hundred or so have either been miss headed or gone over the bar. I can count on one hand the number of great goals scored from shots. BTW Diego Forlan's was deflected back down. Nearly every pass is under hit or over hit. I personally think this ball has ruined the World Cup, its the worst World Cup I have seen since 1966. Never seen so many mistakes in football from class players, makes you wonder why guys.
Bernard.

Although one of the Italy players had some excellent shots on goal, that has been the exception so I have to agree, worst World Cup I have seen since 1962. The ball at the high stadium altitudes is costing goals.

The 1970 WC was played at high altitudes (at least in Mexico City) and that was a great World Cup. You can blame it on the ball but also defenses are better or they're stacking them up. You can't say it's a terrible WC until we get to the knockout stages. That's where it livens up.

If it is the ball, the later stages won't improve the shooting.

I'm not convinced one way or the other about the ball as yet.I agree with Brad about defences too,Algerias defence was pretty good the other night, dagnabit!

Right,Brazil v Ivory coast,lets see some football!!:)

1-0 to Brazil at half time, once again not the best Ref in the world.

Rob

Hanging in there with the WC but having a tough day as I am also trying to watch 2 baseball games at the same time. Thought Brazil might have scored more but coming to the realization that at this level of soccer 1 or 2 goals seems to be the norm while 3 or 4 seems to be unusual. Also beginning to appreciate the defensive play a lot more. All in all, not a bad game this futbol.:D -- Al

Second goal was a missed hand ball and the first the result of some sloppy defending. Of course, Ivory Coast hasn't done much to deserve the lead.

Possibly the most disgraceful and unjust sending off of the whole tournament, the Ivory coast player should be punished.

Rob

Looking at the standings, it appears it will take a miracle for any of the African teams to get through to the next round. Brazil looked pretty good to me. After tommorow, with the eliminations, will the groups move ahead with two teams each or do they re-arrange with fewer groups? -- Al

A well deserved victory (except for the second goal). I would say they're rounding into form but they probably arrived that way anyway! The two teams that look the best so far are Brasil and Argentina.

Guys, tell me that sending off was an absolute disgrace, tell me you both saw it!

I saw it and it wasn't even good acting. Just as a matter of interest, are the refs allowed to use common sense? Why would they fall for that crap? -- Al

The Ref didn't see it apparently, but it looks like FIFA will look at this and the IC player could face a ban,the way he clutched his face as he went down was truly pathetic,he was even touched in the face.FIFA say this world cup is about fair play so they have to act about this.

Its this sort of thing that puts people off football and they need to clamp down on it,what an example for kids watching this game.

In the event that the ref didn't witness the infraction, wouldn't common sense dictate that the ref would have to give the benefit of the doubt to the accused fouler? If the ref didn't see it, how can he send the accussed off? Don't rules cover this? -- Al
