Yo Troopers first well done the USA. Anyone who knows anything about football you should say England were AWEFUL. Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Barry, Rooney played like dogs. Just interviewed Capello he is insane WE ARE BACK lol, who does he think he is kidding. An old England team would have took Slovenia apart 5-0 in a stroll. It was screaming for Arron lennon to come on and take Milner off and roast the fullback with his pace, what does Capello do brings the Donkey Heskey on. UK guys lets not kid ourselves wait until they come up against a good team, they will wipe the floor with England, sorry guys but this is the worst England team since 1966.

Oooh thats a bit over the top my friend, consensus has it they played much better,Rooney,Gerrard,Terry all had good games and totally dominated Slovenia.We all know the first two games were awful but much better today and thoroughly deserved their win.Fairs fair.

This is usually how things play out, talk is cheap and while I'm all about national pride as much as the next guy, sometimes it's best to take it down a couple of notches, humility is a wonderful trait.

And I fully admit I am a casual at best soccer (oops, sorry, futbol) fan, but that match today was extremely exciting, never thought I'd say that about a 1-0 match, but it was brilliant, Hollywood could not have written a better ending.

And congrats to England, felt so badly for your goalie after the 1-1 match vs the US, I am over the moon that the two of us move on, best of luck to you...................

Small scores slow pace game and lack of COMERCIALS is the reason IMO why Soccer is not popular in North America, where fast games and high points are the standard. My grandfather always said that the most beautiful victory is 1 X 0 goal scored at 43’ of the second half.

Congratulations to the US and England teams for winning through when they had to. The US sure chose the exciting and hard way to do it, in extra time. Not sure my already iffy blood pressure will stand another like that. All those missed opportunities and that disallowed goal had me bleeding from the eyes. Now I would like to see the Socceroos and the Kiwis do well. This has been fun, so far. Not real thrilled with the officiating and the seemingly mysterious ways FIFA works. I need someone to explain offsides to me as it seems to me the whole point is to beat the defense by getting behind them. -- Al

I was very proud of our team today.For you guys abroad you may not know just how much (deserved)stick they took over the last two games,but they came back today fresher,attacking and with more spirit.I don't think anyone can deny we were all over them especially in the first half,we could (and should)have scored more.

I was very proud of our team today.For you guys abroad you may not know just how much (deserved)stick they took over the last two games,but they came back today fresher,attacking and with more spirit.I don't think anyone can deny we were all over them especially in the first half,we could (and should)have scored more.

The Irish Panel all ex UK greats, Jonnie Giles, Ronnie Whelan, Graham Souness said they are the worst team in the World Cup, they are a shambles, and Capello hasn't got a clue how to make them play. Wake up Rob its the real World over here. Its no good saying they should have scored more or if only, none of that counts in football. Dont forget some of these guys are on £125,000 a week and are supposed to be World class. DONT MAKE ME HICUP. Dont forget little Algeria played them off the field, and today with no disrespect they were only playing Slovenia. Do me a favour.

We will have to disagree then mate,sorry but who on earth chose those for a panel????.Lineker and Shearer were much better Strikers than any of those guys.Lineker and co have laid into England as everyone else has following the two openers,in fact they had to back track today because they'd been too harsh on them.So I think you are totally wrong there.

You surely saw we were all over them today,it may have only been Slovenia but the improvement was clear.It has been universally welcomed over here today.Well we are all happy today anyway,no we won't win the cup but we won today and won well.

Thats a shame,its all very well shouting the odds before the match, but if you lose you got to be prepared to take some back.

Never mind Slovenia,theres always the European championship to look forward too.

Even though he brought it on himself and I guess he got a little payback, you do have to feel for him and his countrymen a little bit. They were close. On the other hand, yo can say that they were lucky they got four points. An Algerian goalie mistake gave them three points when the should have earned only one and they earned a point against the US when they should have gotten none.
