Hey debrito today i put 5 euro on Robinho, that he will be the best scorer of the world cup and i get 200 euro if i win.He have quota 40,what do you think my chances are?
You think Fabiano can score more or Ronney,or Messi,...?

Hello Ales,

Difficult to say...I have been follow the best I can, I am living in Canada, here in North America Futebol – Soccer, is not popular at all, if we are luck, we have some of English Premier league matches, but for anything else we have to go to Internet.

All the players that you mentioned are CLUB players, and sometimes they do not performance in the same level when they play with the national team. I never saw Messi play (in Argentina) the same level he uses to play in Barcelona.

We will have to wait until the second matches of the first round to really start to see who is going to have more chance....until then lets pray....

Concerning Robinho, don’t put too much money on him....at least for now. For Ronney not a penny, Fabiano not sure, we have to wait to see....

Tomorrow my friend, tomorrow
Cheers.

Looking forward to the first game tomorrow. I personally think that Mexico will beat SA, but you just never know.

I don't know what effect this would have on the home nation.

Good luck to all teams and hope no refereeing errors or penalty shoot-outs decide any games.

Andy

Of course there will be a large presence of our 'Barmy Army' over there too, lets hope for no crowd trouble this time round.

Rob

Much as though it would be a big spoiler for England as a whole and the World Cup, the malicious streak in me kind of hopes some of our prize idiot contingent do try it on. I think they may meet with a little more robust policing style than they're used to. ;)

We are all looking forward to the traditional England goalless decider game followed by a nail biting penalty shoot out and the inevitable tears and lamentations as 100 000 quid a week players forget they are playing football and try and put the ball over the crossbars like in rugby. This will then be followed by tearful captains then saying how much they love playing for England whilst their anorexic pseudo celebrity wives pout at the camera draped in Versace jewllery.
Cannot wait.

My sentiments too.

I just want to see good football and sportsmanship for the next month or so.

Just watched the 3+ hour opening concert on replay  Not my kind of music but very interesting .Highlight for me was Bishop Desmond Tutu in full kit , That was classic . It won't be long now , I wonder what if anything will happen if Mexico win ... Gebhard

I think it is a mistake that FIFA giv ethe world cup in South Africa,it is just not a fit country to do such an event:

-security problems-they robbing people all the time, now they robbing juornalist in the middle of day in the hotel,....i think this was in th ewild west back in 1800+ not in the 21 century

-a lot of desease, health problem,....people do not follow the rules, just the other day 15 people were injured because they sale to manny tickets and the crowd get stiff in the stadioum,....

-bad training conditions, they are just to slow, yesterday my country say how their driver come to pick them up instead of 5 minutes as he promise he come late 3 hours and 35 minutes (WTF!!!!) the reporters say how there is nothing organize they must wait in long lines for acreditations,....

-this Vuvuzela, mak ethe sound so anojing that a lot of people will turn off the sound and they will only watch on MUTE

I am thinking SA is not ready for such an tournament so i think no other country from Africa will get innext 100 years a world cup.It was just an adventure that will not happened again forr the next 100 years.
I just hope that this tournament will not be more of robbing fans,killing,....it is just not safe there and people in FIFA should know this before they give them world cup.
Remmember what it is happened in Angola in the cup of nations when they shoot some of the Togo players.
It is completely diferent world down there and we from Europe we are not used to that.
My country is not an agresive one,we never colonization no one in the history,so our fans go there to have fun,but they can instead of fun get disease, they can be robbed,beaten,kiled,....and other people from Europe too.
I doubt there will be everything normal in this next 30 days i am sure we will get more bad news.....i hope i am wrong!

Well said mate,we really don't want our country disgraced again.I am slightly concerned the mindless minority may pick up on the anti Obama backlash that's building over here right now, that is the last thing we want tommorow

I hope in the last game Slovenian hooligans will not beat English fans on and in front of the stadioum....we have very nasty fans,troublemakers,....do not forget our fans come from a "warzone":D:D:D

nah we have more of a theatre fans, and there will be very little of them, because it is too expensive for most of them,....but if we play with England in our Stadion in our country than it will really be "welcome to hell" hahaha, not just england but everybody......in football no one is welcome and we are not kidding;):D

Monday orange colors the stadium again.
and I hope it remains far from orange.

C’est Parti !

The greatest Sport tournament in the World is underway, good luck to all

Pra frente Brasil........

That could be rough Raymond. I will be over in China starting on June 25 so I may have the same problem

So Brad, you may lose some sleep over the Round of 16 matches.....

The Round of 16 and QFs feature some of the most competitive matches, if I recall past World Cups.

No team wants to go home after making it through the Groups.....

Alas, 60 minutes to kick off.

Enjoy, Raymond.:)

Yes indeed good luck to all of the countries. I have my England shirt ready for tomorrows game !!

England for the cup !!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

It's been 44 years for crying out loud

Most fans in the US will only follow the World Cup if the US does well.

To be honest, how many Americans can name a single person on our National team?

If the US has success this year, I suspect it will be extra galling to the countries that live and breathe 'futbol'.

Yo Peter, Ok an Englishman will put you guys straight about the USA football team. They are well respected and not taken lightly by any of the big guns in the competition. They have had a decent team for a few years now and are ranked 14th in the FIFA world rankings, so if you guys over there want to watch the other second rated games:rolleyes: tough lol. The World is watching the World Cup.:D.
Bernard.

I have to agree with Bernard. The US got to the quarters in 2002 and have been to every cup since 1994.

They also went to the final of the Confederations Cup last year, actually leading Brasil 2-0 before eventually losing.

There is also a chance we me may host again in 2016.

So cmon Pete, pay attention to the jogo bonito more often.

Unfortunately too many of the round of 16, semi finals and quarter finals end up being boring, ultra tactic and scoreless yawns, decided on penalties. The only way to get some excitement is if you are involved with one of the teams and get suspense till the penalties. When I watch games like that I have to be on the side of our American friends and say: give me a good NBA game anytime over this.
But then sometimes some of those games are really beautifully played and those are the games everybody wants to watch (right now I remember any Brazil game in the 1982 World Cup, the best football I have ever seen-I am not old enough so I didn't see the other tremendous Brazil team, the 1970 World Champions). Really, when you've been fortunate enough to have seen those Brazilian teams play you have to admit that all other football lags light years behind including my Portugal's.

I must admit, I don't follow the sport, and would rather watch a good NASCAR race than soccer/futbol.

(I'm also not enchanted with the NBA, but that may be in part because I remember watching the Knicks in the 1970's . . . today's NBA seems more like a bunch of showboating clowns in general who can't even hit a freethrow!)

I saw the 1970 Cup and who can forget Jairzinho, Rivelino, Carlos Alberto or Pele. That was the best, futbol at its perfection.
