Sudan Campaigns 1880 - 1898 (2 Viewers)

Al: The first reference I found to the "Nile Paddle Steamer" was in the 1988 Catalogue. It listed "18 seated British Troups", 2 privates and an officer and a colour sergeant, all drinking tea of course. I guess you received what Len sent unless it was a special order. Mine is a later year model and does not have crewmen operating a deck winch loading boxes of fruit. Does anyone have a "Victoria" with the deck winch? If so, please post a photo.

Tommy & Louis
These are the pictures of one of my "Victoria"s which were taken in a while ago ( I will take better pictures soon) but you can see the deck winch on the picture #3.

Al: Thanks for the photos. I have those gangplanks and chains on mine. I was thinking of a boom and a winch attached with block and tackle.

Welcome Kirk,
Without doubt the Trophy section is the best!! You will enjoy it, I have learned a lot and added to my collection quite a bit thru the forum.

Wonderful Sudan stuff guys! All is beautiful. Got to love those PO rifles. I really like the depth of Lawrence's dio! Got to run, buried in work right now.

Does anyone own/have some good pictures of Strategy in the Desert? It is the one set I really wish I owned. I would love to seem some comparisons of the different regiments available for that one.

Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam

My collection is sadly lacking in the "Strategy in the Desert" department but I do have a couple from the AZW namely "Battle Strategy set# TD1 and TD1A

If it helps track down some pictures Trophy produced the "Strategy in the Desert" set with the choice of these Regiments:

SCOTS GUARDS
ROYAL MARINES
ROYAL SUSSEX REGIMENT
HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY
CAMERON HIGHLANDERS

Cheers

Martyn

Thanks Martyn. I have a photo from an old trophy catalog, but it is in black and white. I believe they are painted up as HLI. I saw the Scots Guards version at a toy soldier show a couple of years ago and now I regret not picking it up!

It's always a pleasure on a daily basis to see the various sets featured in what ever manner you present them Martyn and Tommy. Nice way to get my day started.

Thanks Joe. I always appreciate your interest and comments. I just finished reviewing your albums again and what a treat!

I really like those officer's sets you guys are showing...such versatile "behind the lines" figures...

The new Sudan troops arrived:

1. I think it's a part of EL-KABIR set
2. The Egyptian Lancer Squadron, you do not see them very often : the whole squadron in particular
