Well Chicago has come and gone and whilst there are plenty of excellent new releases from Britains there appears to be no mention what so ever of any Sudan related figures! :(

What do members think? A big surprise later, perhaps at Christmas or shall we have to stick with the Zulu War?

Well I think it is AZW for now Jeff or perhaps a couple of Connoisseur releases every year from MKL models or maybe one in the Museum collection section. It seems the Sudan does have a following and hopefully the sale of the MKL camels will prove that and maybe WB will then hop on the wagon.

Those sets that MKL had were really nice but were beyond my resources at this time.

I am hoping for 2010 to be the year of Sudan and the North-West Frontier.

Hi All!
Just to let you know that Richard and I are still working on the 2010 product list. Expect a large new catalog in late January showing new additions to old ranges and a few new items for periods not visited yet since 1st Gear acquired W. Britain.
I think there will be some surprises...

That sounds more than a little promising :) , I,d love to see this range come to life .

well i am always a fan for some new series!!!!!!!!So woooooooooo-hooooooooo!!!!!
But excuse me on my ignorance but what can we expekt from SUDAN.
Is there any battles?
I know about the ZULU,and i love it!!!!!
I start to collect them(Zulu),but what is this Sudan.Who they fight against?
Is there any immportant battle or it is like this Dunbar which i was thinking it will be battles too but it is just ceremonial.
So tell me open,is the SUDAN battles or ceremonial?
Is Sudan AFTER the ZULU time or it was before ZULU Time?
I really have no idea about the Sudan,i know about the ZULU was movies and everything so i will apreceiate some info about SUDAN

So many forum members and no one know nothing about the SUDAN series?

The Sudan was a series of campaigns that began in 1882 when we (Great Britain) with the highest and noblest of motives (as we always have) intervened in Egypt and replaced the rather ineffectual Egyptian government with a more modern one. We were reluctantly then drawn into a series of conflicts from 1885-1889 involving brave Redcoats against savage and brave Desert Tribesmen.
Rudyard Kipling wrote several poems about the Sudan campaigns. There have been a number of movies ( The four Feathers, Khartoum) and many toy soldiers.
It is a wonderful colorful era.

I have those and think they're excellent. I can't wait to see what Somerset's new Camel Corp line will look like.

Martyn,

Thanks for posting this nice photo of the WB Camel Corps Officer and Trooper together.

This is the first time I am getting to view the gloss figures side by side with diorama background.

I just wish the 2 medical camel corps sets were also in gloss.

:)Raymond:)
