Sudan? (1 Viewer)

maybe a future release for the redcoats range Raymond?

 :D

Craig

Hi Craig,

Overall, W. Britain appears to be settling in for matte paint finish for the majority of sets, with a few gloss figures here and there.

My preference is a gloss paint finish for the Victorian era and "Ceremonials".

I wish that the 4 Camel Corps sets were uniform in paint finish ie: either all gloss or all matte.

With regard to the Redcoats range, this is too broad a category.

I think specific ranges eg: Crimean War, Egypt/Sudan Campaigns may be better, so collectors would have an idea what to expect.

Best, Raymond.:)

I was initially sceptical about the AZW in matt. I have had to eat my words as the AZW matt stuff is really great. It is important that the range is being added to all the time.
I am a glossy Sudan collector so am waiting to see what the boys and girls from WB do come up with early next year. I just hope that it is not a one off thing though but a sustained series. The indian Mutiny and Crimea series were stopped suddenly I thought.

I think between the Redcoats range and the Museum range we will see Sudan figures. I think it will just take time.

Personally I think these two lines are genius as you can basically add anything to them without being committed as you would with a Crimean war line or a AZW line.

Great stuff and looking forward to seeing what is in store for 2010 and beyond.

But the two figures Martyn posted are from the redcoats range Raymond? I believe we will see more sudan era redcoats after all the redcoats range is designed to chart the history of the british army so its ment to be a broad category, i dont believe they would leave out time periods just because they are already covered in matte ranges!

Craig

Don't forget the Grenadier Guardsman from the Sudan and the 21st Lancer that are already issued. Plus the 2 new Black Watch Sudan figures. With the 2 glossy camel corps that makes 6 Sudan figures in the Redcoats line.

I just hope that the matt range will be similar to the Zulu i.e. a dedicated range and not just ones and twos in the museum range.

Cheers

I'm hoping WB will give us some action poses and some enemy forces.

Now you are talking!!!!!!!!YABADABA DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
We need more battles,enemies,...in MATTE!:D
Well, tell me if i can use the AZW redcots in SUDAN too?
Because now i see some of them have blue(!???) uniform in Sudan, some of them have brown,...so who was the tailor in Sudan than, what was the "fashion style":D in Sudan?
Because next week i will join in collectors club(i am go serious with the WBRITAINS-it is no turning back now:D) and i am still thinking where to start?Which Series?
Maybe i wait to this Sudan so that i can start at the begining since the AZW is already sold out most of the sets,....
And if i get this free collectors club wounded soldiers can i use it in SUDAn or it will look funny?
Come on experts!!! TELL ME ALREADY:D:D

Damian, Scott and Jeff,

I think WB keeps a very close watch on the statistics, as would any business unit.

The Crimean War and Indian Mutiny ranges most likely did not do as well as WB had hoped for.

The Redcoat and Museum ranges gives WB ample room to maneouvre and "test the waters".

It is within these broad category ranges where one can expect to see figures appear in ones, twos and threes, sometimes gloss, sometimes matte.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

I think ones and twos are fine for gloss figures, but in matt a full blown dedicated range really needs to be done from the outset like the Zulu War.

As has already been said - Fingers and toes crossed!

Hey you experts, how about some one answer my question?
Can i use soldiers from ZULU war(victorian redcots) in Sudan too?
Or there are diferent uniforms(blue, brown, short pants,...)?

And about WBritain i think their problem is that they are involved in too many series and than they do not countinue with that.
Like Indian mutiny,Crimean war,Henrik VIII,General Custer,....they wannt to be everywhere but they produce one, two, tree,... figures and than stop.
I hate this.
Better make few series and this one to the fullest, not other way around.
This i sone thing, and the other problem is that Zulu war which is their biggest sale hit they produce too little quantity,.....and if you are not fast enough you can not buy them no more,or you can buy them used ones, from ebay,...
So now you experts tell me which series is good for some one who just join in?
Is there any series that will go from the begining and that it is not Durbar,so i can start from the begining?
Is there any new series planing?
But that they will not stop after 3 figures....

Here is a brief guide to the Anglo-Sudan War and its uniforms:

No I would not use Zulu War figures for your Sudan collection
