Ales,

Randy (Polar Bear) has been very kind to give you excellent references on the Sudan Campaign.

The Osprey books are simple to read and are well illustrated.

However, I am not sure if the Osprey series is available in Slovenian.

You may wish to check with your local library for these books.

Happy Reading !!

Best, Raymond.

Hey you experts, how about some one answer my question?
Can i use soldiers from ZULU war(victorian redcots) in Sudan too?
Or there are diferent uniforms(blue, brown, short pants,...)?

And about WBritain i think their problem is that they are involved in too many series and than they do not countinue with that.
Like Indian mutiny,Crimean war,Henrik VIII,General Custer,....they wannt to be everywhere but they produce one, two, tree,... figures and than stop.
I hate this.
Better make few series and this one to the fullest, not other way around.
This i sone thing, and the other problem is that Zulu war which is their biggest sale hit they produce too little quantity,.....and if you are not fast enough you can not buy them no more,or you can buy them used ones, from ebay,...
So now you experts tell me which series is good for some one who just join in?
Is there any series that will go from the begining and that it is not Durbar,so i can start from the begining?
Is there any new series planing?
But that they will not stop after 3 figures....

Here is a brief guide to the Anglo-Sudan War and its uniforms:

And a summary of the conflict:

No I would not use Zulu War figures for your Sudan collection

Definitely agree with Randy;)

Cheers

Should be able to find them on Ebay, just a thought;)

Ales,

I can suggest waiting until next year to collect the Zulu wars as they will be moving away from Rorke's Drift. Then you should be able to collect a new series. Many of the figures that are still available for the Drift will work for Isandlwana, so pick them up while still available. As to a new series, I think that will be difficult as a lot of the wars have already been covered by one manufacturer or another. I suggest just picking one and diving in :D :D and have fun looking for those retired pieces :)

? Do we have any doubt that Randy's in favor of a matte series for the SUDAN CAMPAIGN:D:D:D

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I would like to see the 1st Boer War done and the Sudan (red and khaki), the 2nd Boer War, the NW Frontier (any and all, Maiwand, my God!), and the Franco-Prussian War. I know I am asking a lot, but, the more paint you throw, eventually something gets covered.:p -- lancer

Hey,thank you all for the replys and now i have a lot of informations about the conflict, battle, uniforms,Thanks!!!!!
But i must say that it is too bad that After December 30 1885 British army stop wearing red uniforms(i read this!).
Because this khaky sucks!
I think this Victorian red uniforms with white hats are really beautyfull uniform, and that they put some real seal at the enemies and we know that Britains use this red colour in the American war of independence and in a lot of other battles more than 100 years the red colour was a brand for Britain army.
And the figures are very atractive with this colour,....maybe i need to write the email to the Britain Ministry and i will suggest them start wearing red uniforms :D:D:D:D:D again

When you do this, remember to remind them how well the red uniforms did at Majuba Hill. -- lancer

Question for the Britains:

Is the Queen Victoria one of the most popular ruler in Great Britain of all times?
Because i think in this period Britains really have a lot of land in their hands, colonies, they make wars,winning,...i think in the Great Britain there was a arhitectal style call Victorian Style that even today this building are very famous in this day, beautyfull buildings, does Big Ben was made in this era?
Or you have other kings and queens who was more popular than Queen Victoria?

Herny VIII was really popular. Look how many women wanted to marry him and simply lost their heads in the process. -- lancer

I think Queen Victoria is very popular. I also think our present Queen is as well. HM the Queen Mum was much loved by the British people and I believe she was very popular during WWII.

So we can say that Henrik VIII was a real playboy and that woman literaly "lost their heads because of him":p:p:p

speaking of Henrik VIII....
