Hi Guys,

A few days ago I posted a few rough pix of our new “Wellington” bomber that were taken at the workshop.

Well our first “WIMPEY” flew into Hong Kong early this morning after an overnight flight from the Philippines.

Now it’s landed, been checked-over, been “bombed-up”, the crew have arrived and they are heading out on their first mission… “HAMBURG”.

This is a very small tribute to the men of RAF Bomber Command. They took the war to Germany when this was about the only way Britain could fight back and hit the Nazis where it most hurt. Over 55,000 members of Bomber Command lost their lives during the war… 50% of those that flew. The highest percentage of any branch of the British Forces during the Second World War.

If you get the opportunity watch Ewan & Colin MacGregor’s BBC documentary “Bomber Boys” or read the book. Truly amazing.

Best wishes and happy landings!

P.S. Look out for more Wellingtons and Halifaxes soon!

Very, very, nice. Well done, what's needed now is a 'Pathfinder Mosquito' to lead the way......:rolleyes2::wink2::)

Very nice Andy, great to see you never lose your passion. Cheers, Robin.

Superb; there's a few requests building along this 'bigger' aircraft of WWII line. It's a good looking set; and would make great company with a Mossie and a BP Defiant I'm sure. And there's always the 'whispering death' of the RAAF....something to balance the fall of Singapore ya know!{sm3}

Excellent pics Andy, fantastic looking aircraft, thanks for posting^&cool. And she's just in time for next months opening of the Bomber Command memorial in Green park!{bravo}}

Fine looking aircraft and a fine tribute to the RAF. The Wellington is my favorite Brit bomber. Always was impressed by the early war bombing strikes against Germany and the early war bombers like the Wellington, Halifax, Stirling, and the Whitley. Just neat aircraft. -- Al

Excellent aircraft. I watched a really good doc about how the built one of these in 24 hours!!!! germany did not have a chance when we could do such stuff. Nice stuff and look forward to many more RAF posts as the opening of the long overdue memorial nears.

Nice plane. The Wellington was the first plane I attempted to model. I put so much contact cement on the joints it was indestructible! That bird was punished, abused and dropped by an overexuberant boy so many times yet it never broke. Kind of like the real plane, a case of art imitating life. :eek:

Andy mate,
Outstanding aircraft and excellent model, a must have, but unfortunately the good lady wife has said there is no more room on the breakfast table because of this beast.^&grin
Cheers Howard

PS It is very tempting though to find some room on the dining room table:smile2:
