Hi Guys,

Well at long last here are the first two ‘masters’ of the long-awaited and much anticipated Australian Army Land Rovers... And I believe they’re well worth waiting for!

The first to be released will be the ‘Military Police’ model complete with side doors and a fixed full canvas canopy.

Driving this vehicle will be a Military Police driver complete with ‘slouch halt’ and MP brassard.

This finely detailed model is a Series II Short Wheel Base Land Rover of the kind used extensively with the Australian Army from 1958 onwards.

As you can see in the attached photos a two-man Military Police add-on set will also be available.

The second Land Rover to be released later will be the ‘Patrol Vehicle’ version complete with a driver and a separate SLR propped up next to him.

K&C are planning an add-on set of 2 possibly 3 sitting riflemen to go with this vehicle.

As some of you may remember from our July 2019 visit to Oz. When we asked collectors in each of the three cities what ‘Aussie’ vehicle they wanted to see next (and buy) after the Centurion, the Land Rover was the clear winner by a long chalk.

At this point I don’t have a final release date but for the first Military Police version I would guess... End of the year or into the early part of 2021.

I wish it was sooner but you can’t hurry quality... especially in these difficult times.

No toy soldier company has designed or produced as many or as varied a number of special projects for the Australian market than K&C.

I hope you will agree that these ‘two beauties’ are among our very best!

Andy

Nice vehicles Andy,

that's what I learned to 4x4 drive in, well a LWB version, but the same vehicle.

I do like the added details of the shovel and axe on the mudguards, radio in the rear, and SLR next to the driver.

The addition of the 'roo bar' is most accurate, so looking forward the seeing this vehicle after it comes out of the 'spray shop'.

Even the drives looks like me, so will he have a mustache ????

Well done,
John

Yes these two are indeed beauties Andy and will well worth the wait. Your attention to this series is truly amazing. Robin.

Andy mate,
The title of this thread said it all. Two outstanding 1/4 ton Land Rovers. Excellent detailing. This is going to put a huge dint in my budget when they become available. The GD version can be used with armour, artillery, infantry, engineers, transport units.
Many thanks for the continuing Aussies In Vietnam Range.

Cheers Howard

Thanks Andy, very impressive detail and I really like the Bullbar on the front, a classic Aussie 'accessory'. When I was a kid most farmers including several of my relations had these little vehicles, they weren't fast but could go anywhere.

I also like the idea of 3 sitting figures in the works, very useful and not just for the Land Rovers. Robin.

While I definitely intend to add these two excellent vehicles to my Vietnam display, this is not K&C's first Land Rover. Back in the early 1990's, K&C produced a wonderful mohagony Hong Kong Police Land Rover:

Thankyou Louis for the happy memories of that ‘vintage’ Royal Hong Kong Police Land Rover...Back in my day they were all over Hong Kong and usually had a senior constable driver sitting alongside him would be a junior inspector, in the back, a sergeant and 2 or 3 constables as ‘back-up’.
Always used to amaze me to see American police vehicles with just one officer in them!!!
All the best,
Andy.

.... starts researching idf use and land rovers!!!!

Andy, do you know if they were used? I see a conversion project for me 😀

I know the Israeli Army has a lot of Land Rover ‘Defenders’ in service today in various guises including ‘Special Forces’.

Back in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s not so sure ...but I can guess that they captured a lot of Jordanian Army equipment in ‘67, much of which was British, so it’s a fair guess that there would be Land Rovers among the booty!

All the best,
Andy.

Kiwi's love LRs, especially around the farm.

Outstanding models Andy!:salute::

Many thanks Toddy...Glad you like ‘em!
Sorry, we did not get the opportunity to meet up in Oz this year...
All the best,
Andy.

I'm sure we'll catch up again soon Andy. Great to see the Vietnam series expanding and do like those 'ladies on bikes' sets. ^&grin

I think we can all agree 2020's been an absolute sod of a year and one to forget. Fingers crossed things improve for 2021 and we can all get back to traveling and tossing away those annoying face-masks.

Cheers from another dodgy Kiwi. :salute::
