The First Sudan War (4 Viewers)

Randy...

I took these photos off the London thread...the Jenkins and the Wm. Brits...

they look pretty similar...don't you think...very close to me...

I'm wondering if the photo you posted from the London show of the Jenkin's has been color edited...

both of these seem to match the bluer uniforms from your Osprey book...

they seem pretty close to me...what do you think...

even if you don't agree...I think you will agree that they match each other...but they look pretty close to me...

for the closest references to how they actually will look...

I think I would have to defer to the Jenkin's professional photos...

actually on the connoisseur figure you posted...I don't see any green in his kilt to match the Osprey pictures of kilts with green in both of them...

i agree--in these pix both have a blue tint--the JJ at London are not grey like the JJ pic for his July release? Note stained helmets (WB) vs more white ones (JJD)

Randy...

I may be wrong...

but I think there was some minor collaboration or at least discussion...

by both parties to make an interchangeable compatible product...

I would assume that colors would have been a priority by both manufacturers...

I know size was discussed and altered...

I'm guessing they will be pretty similar in size and color...but I may be way off...

again...

I would trust John's "stock photo" over anything else I have seen...

I think it would be a true representation of his colors...

I'm pretty sure John's colors will be right...the factory used the digital illustrations...

I really think the photo you referred to might have been edited a little...

These appear to be the accepted norm for the color of the tunics by the manufacturers...

it seems pretty close to this Osprey picture you posted...

I'm happy with the resemblance...

All in all, it is going to be a wonderful summer for the Sudan collectors. -- Al

Since one of my collecting interests is the British Army through history, I will definitely pick up something to help fill the Empire period hole in the collection. Wonder if any of the releases will be single figures? Will definitely pick up that Gatling Gun, though!

Yes! me too! That navy gatling gun is shaping up to be very nice!! Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Here are a couple of Royal Naval Brigade officers. I hope John will add one of these to go with the Gatling set.

Randy...

I hope so too...an officer would be a nice addittion...he may have something in the works...

I know he has his hands full right now...work, help, factories...etc...

that single picture you posted is a pretty nice pose...sword drawn...

a "pointing" figure...an officer directing fire...would be nice too...

Mike- any idea when the August dispatch will be out?

I think the 15th (tomorrow) is the latest he has ever announced...

I expected it Monday...

now I'm hoping for Thursday or Friday...

it's usually towards the end of the first week of the month up til the 15th...

I'm anxious...

In search of water to supply the army coming soon.

Nice shots Robin...the figures look good with your structures...have you ever thought of using Photobucket to resize your images much larger...

Robin

Where did you get the pack camels that make up the caravan? Are they K&C?

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet. Officer directing fire. If you don't like them, you don't like like.

that's what I'm talking about Martin...

he's a good pose...versatile too...directing fire or troops...

I hope John throws an officer like him in the mix...

Hi Martin,
A very nice Nordenfelt and marine complement, and the soldiers in khaki seem to be very nice also. Who is the manufacturer? Are these still in the retail market?
Please join the artillery fans club and add this photo to it....it is a great photo, if you have more please add.
