The great crusade (1 Viewer)

Hello Alex, thanks for the photos, I also use allot of Photoshop and really like the possibilities we can achieve with this software, and these pictures look nice with the effects...My point was about only SOME of your photos IMO has a heavy effects and will hide the details, like the photograph showed in the beginning of this thread

Thanks for your time to bring these photos
Regards

Here is the original of the opening shot:

In this case the heavy altering was deliberate. As I said in the previous post we strive to be story tellers and mini producers. This was meant to simulate a movie poster. We want THE GREAT CRUSADE to be an "EVENT" not just a bunch of nice pics to show off our work.

We want to create excitement and fan fair. Mr. Jazz, who does not understand us at all, calls it AGGRANDIZING. But he is stuck, as are many others in the traditional Toy Soldier world, and that is fine. But it is not what we are about.

This is for the most part a very close minded hobby, we like to expand the imagination of those who view our work. We have been very successful so far. We have moved those who follow us into a hybrid hobby of Toy Soldiers VS. Scale Models and then some.

Figarti has interest in moving in this direction, as their vehicles are very close to a 1/35th scale model in detail. Your work for First Legion parallels our way of thinking, as do First Legions products. So we are in the same boat, but as I also said in the previous post we plan on adding some new twists in this project. We like to keep pushing the envelope.

I love this conversation. I wish others would express their thoughts. But the politics of the Forum prevents association with us, by those who are afraid to step out of the inner circle.

We get e-mails from all over the world, on our Website, from those who love the direction we have taken. They do not have to CONFORM, so this assures us we have a future in what we do.

We are on point, expanding this hobby, not from this Forum, but from our Website where we can maneuver freely.... This will bring business to the manufacturers and dealers, and new blood to the hobby. And yes, the bad boys of the hobby provide this service for little or no reimbursment.....Here the inner circle recycles the hobby, it does not expand and reach out. But we know there are many here who quietly follow us, and kudos to those who actually have the nerve to outwardly correspond with us in public......Rod....Thanks again for your correspondance.... Alex

Wow Alex, you really said a mouthful here.

When you say Brad and others are stuck in the traditional toy soldier world, really not sure what you mean, stuck in what way, the way they think, the way they display, the way they buy, stuck how?

This is a close minded hobby? Again, how so? Take a look at all the wonderful displays and dioramas collectors are kind enough to share on this forum, I don't consider any of them to be close minded, so not sure what you mean.

Politics of the forum prevent people from joining in on the discussion? What politics Alex? Shannon and Pete give people around a great amount of freedom to talk about a variety of subjects; unless I missed something, never once have I seen them step in and discourage members from talking about you and what it is that you do (whatever that is).

Inner circle; what is the inner circle, how do you get there and why would anyone be afraid of stepping out of it when it comes to TOY soldiers.

You get thousands of emails from people who don't have to "conform"; conform to what? What are they not conforming to?

What do you mean by you can't expand the hobby from this website? Like I said earlier, I've never seen a situation where the site owners or moderators wouldn't let you expand and post your pictures.

You consider yourself and Nick the "bad boys" of the hobby? Nick and yourself are not bad guys, Nick is a great guy, always willing to help collectors with their questions and share his ideas, he is an inovator, took buildings and dioramas to another level in my opinion, just an all around nice human being, have had the pleasure of doing business with him, he is very honest and very fair, very, very humble too by the way.

What service are you providing for little or no reimbursement, I find it hard to believe Rick from Figarti does not pay you fairly for the wonderful dioramas NICK creates for them (his OTSN bombed out city section was jaw dropping by the way, great job on that NICK). You are working with Frontline and Collectors Showcase according to you; do they not pay you as well? And you are partners with Matt from The Hobby Bunker, surely he pays you for whatever it is you do for him, does he not?

Kudos to those who have the nerve to outwardly correspond with you? So if one does, he will be blackballed by the rest of the hobby as a result?

Sometimes you make no sense Alex when you get up on your soapbox, you really don't.

My advice to you is stick to allowing Nick to create the wonderful displays and dioramas he makes and share them with the rest of the forum members and you just do whatever it is you do.

Well, I'm honored that you would mention me in a post although I don't mean what you mean stuck  I do like the traditional toy soldier, if that's what you mean although most of my collection is K & C.

Is the attached photo what you mean. Not as fancy as yours but I like it nonetheless :)

However, the dioramas that you have presented are very nice.

Mr. Jazz........I apologize for the word "Stuck"....... I should have used prefer.....and I also said there was NOTHING wrong with what you prefer.... I meant that a traditional Toy Soldier Collector does not even like Dioramas, not to mention the high tech ones that we do, and how we try to present them as a production.......and that is fine......You said we were Aggrandizing......but we were just trying to create anticipation and excitement.......And you and others seemed not to like it...AND THAT IS FINE...But we will keep on doing it, because we know many do like it. That was my point.....Those who don't like what we do and how we do it do not pay attention to us, and that is most of this Traditional Forum...AND THAT IS FINE.....But we still post her for the few that do understand us.

Even the Diodrama is nothing new.......We prefer to call ours a Mini-Series......But as you can already see ours will be handled differently....And that is our perrogative... Alex

George....

This is what I do..........

Firebat...

The day of days is simply stunning I really like these DDay dio's been hooked on them since seeing the ones on the Conte site.

Jazzeum...

I like your also.
Mitch

Now that picture is worth 10,000 words!

Joe I appreciate you comments, but you did lead the way on this one with your D-Day rendering a long while back....This is just a minute piece of what is to come....I hope you enjoy the rest as much. We did use Conte stuff in this scene, but the obstacles are custom built.

What is also cool is Panda1gen has currently taken up the same subject matter, and is giving a lot of background that we do not have to do now....So we will just concentrate on the drama !

HUH???????????????????????????????????????????

Really? Now I'm confused... What is a "traditional toy soldier collector"? And, some how they don't like dioramas?

This soap box stuff is really confusing.

Firebat....

Stunning!! Pure and simple. everyone can see what your trying to do, it looked visually amazing cannot wait for more.

I don't know about soap boxes etc its all of no interest to me but, I cannot understand how anyone who likes our hobby cannot like your dio's and what you are doing. Perhaps a shade of Olive drab????

We surly realize his Forum does not understand us.....while others do......A post from another Forum reminded me of our mission.....So I will pass on the general thought.......We are not entirely about toy soldiers, we are about preserving the memories of our Veterans though Historic modeling. We get on the soap box for them, and we can only hope we do them justice. Nick and Alex

Firebat...

It would be another thing to add to a list I am accused of by a minority on here so, I don't worry I have broad shoulders.

Merry christmas

While I appreciate your displays, I really think you should of get over yourself. You're coming off real pompous for absolutely no reason.

Just make your great displays and leave the over the top stuff out of it. Please. We're not having a reaction to the displays but to what you are saying.

Although Battle Scene Productions sounds like a business name, we are NOT a business, so we are not concerned with profit. We are here to bring entertainment to the collector. The Great Crusade will contrast many manufacturers products in a common setting. This will influence their purchasing.

So we do not have to play the game, that makes us very frightening to those who do play the game. When provoked, we will tell it like it is, because we cannot betray the collectors, many of them don't know what goes behind the scenes of this hobby and how ugly it can get.....So please do not provoke us any more, and we will get back to doing what we do best. We are nearing the end of our patients.

If THE GREAT CRUSADE flops because it does not get support from those who don't like our attitude, and don't even realize we are on their side. At least we can sleep at night, because we are truthful, and we are not just here to make a buck on the collector. That is what seems to drive those who assault us....... Pleasant Dreams !

LoL! Right, you're gonna rock everybodies world and take the world of little painted guys on...

This is really very funny.

Nope...we are just having fun......we know where the dirt lies, so we avoid it....and if we are fortunate enough to steer a collector down a right path we are happy to do so. Our world is not here, we get responses from all over the world from our Web Site (Around 1000 since the Great Crusade started).

All positive.....

You bring a lot of entertainment to the collector, more than you'll ever know.

You are a constant source of entertainment.

When it comes to entertainment, you are THE source for it on this forum.

Oh and the pictures of your dioramas are nice too.
