Starts next week (October 22nd) on BBC2 in the UK {bravo}}

Martyn:)

I thought it was pretty good. I don't know much about the "Dark Ages," so the era is new to me. I'm looking forward to watching the third episode sometime next week.
Cheers,
Brendan

Yep enjoying this , pretty violent by the good old BBCs standards as well.

agreed...

I'm still watching it...

gave up on "The Bastard Executioner" though...

Mike,I haven't watched the last 2 episodes of Bastard Executioner.Just seems something is missing. What didn't you like about it?

Mark...

I really don't know exactly why I gave up on it...

for lack of a better reason...

it just didn't push my buttons...

I'm gonna try the rest of the episodes but I have to agree with you. Most of the new shows I have tried I have been disappointed in.
Mark

Me too about Bastard Executioner. Its not that I didn't like it, but I just have faded away from it.

This program is actually very good. The last 3 episodes in particular . Excellent characters and script. Cornwell is a master at injecting a fictional character into historical events and periods, and the production value here seems to match his writing.Thumbs up here.

I'm enjoying it...

Uthred has saved King Alfred's kingdom 2 or 3 times already...saved his personal life a couple of times...now his queen/seer has saved his child's life...and he is still treated like heathen scum...poor Uthred...one obstacle after another and he just keeps on swinging...you almost feel like he good get a squarer deal if he went back to the Danes...

Season 2 [8 Episodes] is up on Netflix now.:salute::

This is on Netflix. I had it pre-ordered on AmazonUK. As luck would have it I notice it on Netflix,
and was able to cancel in time before AmazonUK prepared for shipping. Netflix saved me £17.99.

I resisted this for a while with the fantasy swords, post-apocalyptic armor and a few other things, but I finally broke down and am glad I did. It is really enjoyable even though some of the armor and weapons still feel like nails on a chalkboard.

They do demonstrate shield walls and other formations better, and a lot less running and screaming clashes than other shows.

I had put this on the backburner but started watching season 2 last week.I watched episode 1 but last night i watched 7 episodes {eek3} to finish season 2 and will start season 3 today. No word on a season 4.This is pretty good but I still like Vikings a little better.

Season 3 was quite good, although it seems to focus more on the Saxon side than the Vikings. If the series continues to include two books in each season, there should be two more left.
