"Shangani Patrol"

"Shangani Patrol was the third film made by South African producers David Millin and Roscoe Behrmann under the newly formed RPM Film Studios. The film was shot entirely on location in Rhodesia, in the Marula district, about sixty miles from Bulawayo and not far from the historical battles of the First Matabele War. Shooting was completed in the scheduled six weeks.[SUP][2]"

What and awesome display Martyn.

Now the million dollar question is when are you doing a similar set for the AZW :D :D

Martyn's great ideas lead to new AZW figures. {sm4}

Keep the ideas coming.

GREAT DIO , and very dramatic !!! {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

The story of the Shangani Patrol was a founding story of Southern Rhodesia. There were countless bowling clubs schools and community halls named after Alan Wilson. Since the independence of Zimbabwe in 1980 the story has tended to drop out of circulation by and large. There are only two books on the topic. They are A time to die and The white men sang. The Matabele wars have attracted some left wing historians. Terrence Ranger wrote a book in 1972 called Revolt in Southern Rhodesia which is written from the point of view of the Matabele and Mashona. The graves are still there as is Rhodes grave. It is now by and large a forgotten event much like the 1906 Zulu rebellion.
Well done Martyn for bringing it to life so well.

Thanks for the post Damian. It is through efforts like Martyn's that we learn about and get interested in history that we know nothing or little about. That is one of the beauties of this Forum. It sends you off on intellectual adventures that you might not have otherwise undertaken.

Many thanks again Martyn.

Is it from one of those sites that sells bootleg copies of "Song of the South" and "Buckwheat" T-shirts? :wink2:^&confuse:wink2:

Wow! A work of art interpreting a work of art . . . exceptional job by Little Legion!^&cool^&cool

Have you purchased the the movie from them Martyn, because it sounds like what they sell are copies of either a VHS or a 16mm. If so, how was the quality. At $30 a pop I would hope for a little more.

Brad

No Brad, I was worried about the quality

Cheers
