Anna Meares wins cycling gold
Queen Victoria is dethroned. Long live Queen Anna.
Anna Meares, the captain of the Australian Olympic track cycling team, scored the biggest win of her long and brilliant career when she outrode great rival Victoria Pendleton in the women's sprint final at the London Games velodrome.
And now im hearing the Brits are calling her a cheat,i think there might be some sore loosers in Britain.
They compared it to winning the ashes the greatest rivalry at the games and we came out the VICTORS,well done Anna a true Aussie champ.

Big day for the US. So now we have a slight lead 81 to 77 and still many US teams in Quarter Finals and more.

No surprise there Larry about the Basketball when the US team members pay combined adds up to the national income of most small countries...{sm3} I'll only start to worry if one day the USA beats Australia in a cricket test match....:wink2:

I'm only kidding with you Wayne mate, I didn't think she cheated for one min, she just won the race is all. Maybe her dad thought the disqualification of that race was unfair, but its certainly not the whole country saying it. When we won the Gold in the men's the other day I understand some were saying we cheated by using special wheels or some such, there will always be someone unhappy whoever wins mate. Check this

Well Wayne, to look at it in total, you are ahead of something like 203 other countries. {sm3}
But I am not sure if you can jump in celebratin and toss back a stubbie over beating "Vanuatu" .. "Tuvalu" .. "Turkmenistan" .. "Malawi" and countries like that!{sm2}

Unreal!!! is the only way I can describe the 4X 100 relay runner for the U.S.A. who broke his fibula during the race and still finished his part in the race while it was broken!!!{eek3} he said he heard a "pop" and felt it and knew it was broken but he had to finish and not let his team mates down, and now the relay team is in the running for a gold metal thanks to this brave young man...Sammy

I agree Sammy .... that is the pure and true sports athlete, not like the million or billon dollar players in most sports, in this country as well as the world. IF the US medals in the event, does he get a medal even though he can’t compete? -- Larry

Your basketball women had me worried for the first half .... YIKES {eek3}
Quarter 1 Aus 22 / US 20
Quarter 2 Aus 25 / US 23
But the second half was a major turn around for the US gals. US 86 / AUS 7; but a great game, that AUS 12 point and AUS 14 point quarter hurt.
