The London Olympics (2 Viewers)

I agree Sammy .... that is the pure and true sports athlete, not like the million or billon dollar players in most sports, in this country as well as the world. IF the US medals in the event, does he get a medal even though he can’t compete? -- Larry

Hi Larry, the article I read mentioned that if the U.S.A. wins a medal he would get one as well being that he participated in the event, so hoping that the 4X100 team wins some type of medal because he deserves one...Sammy

Just watched Usain Bolt win the 200. Simply awesome. I've been watching track and field since the mid 60s and he's probably the best I've ever seen, not to mention the charisma he exudes. He says he wants to try to three-peat in Rio in 2016. I hope he does. Plus Jamaica finished 1-2-3. Pretty fantastic too.

Your basketball women had me worried for the first half .... YIKES {eek3}
Quarter 1 Aus 22 / US 20
Quarter 2 Aus 25 / US 23

But the second half was a major turn around for the US gals. US 86 / AUS 7; but a great game, that AUS 12 point and AUS 14 point quarter hurt.

Please, please beat the Ruskies!!!!!!! :wink2: --- Larry

Larry keep your eye on 6'8" OZ Gal Liz Cambage at just 20 years she should be a force in 4 years in Rio.

I wonder if Australia will get there cycling/swimming coaches back :tongue:
Intime for the Commonwealth games 2014 Scotland...^&grin
ps..on a side note c'mon USA i dont want Red China to win this thing!

Don't worry Ragnar, the U.S.A. is pulling away with the medal race (95 to 82 at moment) with the games ending tommorow, and at least 2 more golds coming in Basketball for sure, we have this one locked up :)...Sammy

Curiosity got the better of me and I had to google Michelle to see what the fuss was about as I'm not usually into Track & Field, I'm more a Beach Volleyball type of guy. Wow, she sure has an interesting warm-up routine, I hope it catches on as would make Track and Field far more interesting.
I knew Google was good for something....Wow.....time for my blood pressure pill......TomB

EASY Tom ... breath slowly.

Gee remember the(good ole’) days of the past Olympics when the German and Russian women could bench press 700 lbs and had a noticeable moustache and beard at the end of the day???? {sm2} {sm2}

I saw that this morning. Her body and a gun was found at his home.

If the leg don't fit, you must acquit! Playing the leg card. I've heard it all now. This is one of the dumbest defenses that I have ever seen which means he will likely get off like Ray Lewis:

"It was the middle of the night, and Oscar Pistorius thought an intruder was in the house. Not wearing his prosthetic legs, feeling vulnerable in the pitch dark, and too scared to turn on the lights, the track star pulled his 9mm pistol from beneath his bed, moved toward the bathroom and fired into the door.

It was only after he called to girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp -- whom he thought had been in bed beside him after a quiet evening -- that he realized something horrible might have happened, he told Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair in a statement read by his lawyer during his bond hearing Tuesday. Prosecutors dispute Pistorius' version of events."

Might have been a good idea to check if she was in bed beside him BEFORE he blazed away, but hey, what do I know, I don't own a gun and am not familiar with gun firing procedures........:rolleyes2:

A rival for Lance Armstrong:

"A South African policeman testified on the second day of a bail hearing that testosterone and needles were found at the home of Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee track star accused of killing his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.

Pistorius was not directly accused of using the testosterone, but his lawyer challenged that and other points of the investigation, contending that the substance was an herbal supplement that is not banned by any doping agency, in the Pretoria, South Africa, courtroom."

I know that if I was a burglar, the first place I would head for is the bathroom. That way I can be trapped in a room with just one entrance, with my arms full of valuable TP.{sm3} -- Al

I read that this guy also had an extensive security system which, of course, had not gone off that night. He apparently has some prior history with domestic violence. There was likely some type of argument. His girlfriend locks herself in the bathroom because he is threatening her. She refuses to open the door and he fires off a couple of shots through the door. Maybe he doesn't necessarily intend to kill her, but that doesn't make much difference. It's enough to convict him for murder. It sounds like he has the South African version of OJ's attorneys at work, though. So he may get off.

latest is the chief investigating officer in the case has himself been charged with attempted murder....
Wayne.
