Is the book put out by K&C?
No, and I don't think they will but this is as close to being an official book as there is.

Is the book put out by K&C?
No. Andy had been planning to write a book he wished to publish in 2004 to be entitled "20 Years Hard Labor, the King & Country Story", but he was so busy making these wonderful toys that he never even completed the first chapter. In 2005 he asked me if I could write the book, and told me he planned to start a publishing venture in China, and the K&C Book could be the first book it published. Sadly, the K&C publishing venture never came to fruition, and the book project ground to a halt.
As the text about all things K&C up to 2006 had been written, and the initial photography had been completed by Kevin Elliott, we sought sponsorship to get the book published, and our hosts here at Treefrog and the Nevilles of K&C, UK, stepped up and tried to find a way to get the book published. Despite a tremendous effort on their part, for which Kevin, Lawrence Lo, Hans Hedrich (the other contributors to the writting and photographs in the book) and I are certainly grateful, they could not find a way to get it done, and the project was dead in the water.
Two Chicago Shows ago, Peter Nathan, one of the wonderful K&C dealers from Australia, encouraged us not to give up. He recommended I ask Norman Joplin, the author of several wonderful books about Britains and other traditional toy soldiers, for assistance. Mr. Joplin kindly pointed us to Bookblurb, an online company which publishes books on demand.
Kevin Elliott did all the hard work, formatting our text and literally thousands of photographs into the books, and editting the text, and Volumes I and III of the King & Country story have been published, and are available for sale. A couple of more volumes are in the works. When complete, Kevin, Larry, Hans and I expect to have ever single regular production item K&C ever made described and photographed, as well as quite a few custom products K&C has made over the years. The information comes from extensive collections of K&C brochures, catalogues, price lists and dealer dispatches in our collections (for example, I provided 95% of the brochures on the Sager's Toy Soldiers website, and have since acquired quite a few others, including the first two advertisements and first two color flyers K&C ever issued back in 1984), as well as straight from the horses mouth, as we are all good friends with Andy and Gordon Neilson.
Thanks for the explanation. Since it was not put out officially by K&C, was it at least authorized by them?
I took a long time to answer this thread.....I looked through my collection and can say that there is not one item that I would TRULY say .....the ONE I am missing......thats not say if I won the lottery I would have nothing to purchase......just not the ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!.....![]()
