I realized today, as I placed my second order with First Legion in the last week, that this company has a lot of power.:D I have always had passing interest in the Napoleonic Era, ever since reading the Waterloo section of Keegan's 'Face of Battle' when I was younger. Now, after debating over it for a while, I took the leap and purchased three of the British Guards. I was so happy with them, I ordered five more a day later. Boy, is my wife a little pissed....

Still, because First Legion puts out such an amazing line of figures, they have converted an American history buff into a Napoleonic Era fan. I am looking forward to collecting the whole British Guard series, then heading into the French Guard Chasseurs that were previewed last week. Thanks to Matt and his team for thier excellent work. Please, keep it up!

I feel exactly the same way about their fabulous new Samurai range.
:):)
Just my opinion of course, but I honestly feel that we're seeing a MAJOR manufacturer, who is going to get bigger and bigger as they diverge into different era's.

I concur; as I have said before, FL's quality is absolutely stunning. I predict exponential growth for them, especially as they widen their pallet. I'm hoping to see 54mm Crusaders somewhere down the line. I'll be all over those! And I'll be lobbying my wife to have them placed in the downstairs curio. FL's artistry is that prolific to even think about hailing the wife's consideration to have their potential figures placed in the family room as opposed to man cave that my collection currently resides in! The pictures of the new Samurai line show FL raising the bar yet again. I hope other manufacturer's are watching......:D (because the buyer is the beneficiary!)

I'm hoping they decide to dip their toe into WW2,i'm sure the quality of their figures would transfer very nicely in that era.And they'd be starting from scratch so would have a whole War of subject choice.

And isn't that for sure..!! REAL competition ensures that we, the buyers, will reap the benefit. I for one really don't mind paying that little bit extra when the quality of product is CLEARLY far superior to that of other mainstream manufacturers.
Connoisseur Figures without the Connoisseur Price-Tags as far as I'm concerned.

Lets hope they can also produce in numbers and become a true player in the hobby and not just a producer for the select few.Their figures are so good they deserve a wider platform so everyone can enjoy.

I'm not certain I understand what you mean Rob - although I'm probably just misreading your message. 1st Legion are an internet distributer, which I take to mean they already have the widest possible platform for access to their figures.

Harry, what i meant to say is that there are a few producers these days who only make a very limited amount of sets. What we need is another producer of fine figures such as FL, but who also make enough sets to go round so they are not sold out within five mins of going online and thus leaving many collectors p***** off.The quality of Matts figures really does shine through and it would be great if we could all get our hands on some even if we can't join the initial stampede.I was not trying to say FL don't make enough figures, just saying i hope they do,if that makes sense.;)

P.S Good to see you back on the forum Harry.

Thanks for your response Rob, I see what you were meaning now and yes, it makes sense. Now, as far as I know, although there's always going to be a finite amount of figures made by any manufacturer, as a rule 1st Legion don't generally appear to go in much for all this "rare and strictly limited sets" that several other toy makers and/or toy sellers seem to prefer as a marketing tool - just my personal observation you understand. So I would suggest that tends to indicate whatever ranges they choose to offer for sale will be in quantities that will satisfy the appetites of even the most voracious of collectors.

Oh, and thank you kindly for the welcome back.

This would be good news indeed Harry. Not everyone can afford to buy something as soon as its released and it seems a bit harsh on fans of certain companies if its a matter of 'now or never' sort of thing.

I copped a look at FL Naps for the first time in London last week, really excellent figures, great sculpting and facial details in my view.Starting a Nap range now would be financial suicide and grounds for my wife to divorce me,but i sure could be tempted.I checked out the Samurai figs in your world exclusive thread Harry, and again although its not my era so to speak the figures are stunning, real craftsmanship and artistry.I think we have a big player in FL.I just hope i can persuade Matt to look at the 1940's(Sorry H i know you are not a fan of the WW2 Khaki ;)but i can just picture how cool they'd be:))

Reb told me you were considering heading to London in December Harry, would be good to see you in the bar.Looks like we have a UK branch forming there!.

On the contrary Rob, we have a substantial collection of both Khaki and Field Grey (and Olive Drab for that matter) - both figures and AFV's. Its just they're all packed away for the time being until we move house again later this year. That's why its generally just the newer stuff (and SOHK/IC of course) that I've been posting.

Reb told me you were considering heading to London in December Harry
Oh, he did, did he? Hmmmmm.....:)
Well, there's no need for anyone to lock up their daughters or any of their other valuables just quite yet. That one came about when I casually mentioned to Missus Heid that I'd love to go to Harbin (a city in North China) to see the annual ice sculpture festival they have every December. A suggestion to which she responded that its far too cold up there, and she'd much rather visit London anyway.
A prospect that opens up vast opportunities for endless entertainment.

1/ She hasn't a clue how cold and miserable London can get in December (yet).

2/ She doesn't know about the London Show (yet).

3/ She doesn't know (yet) that she has to attend an interview at the Brit Consulate in Beijing in order to obtain a UK visitors visa. I simply must remember to take some hilarity-suppression pills prior to accompanying her on that particular mission.

4/ She needs an Invitation Letter from a UK Resident to apply for the visa in the first place - which I'm - not. Its easily enough arranged, but she doesn't know that (yet). My innocent enquiry as to where she's going to obtain such a letter was received and reacted to with rather predictable results.

So, all in all, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for me to get a round in if I was you, cos it might be next year, or even the year after that, before she can persuade the authorities to issue the relevant visa - especially with my "assistance", cos I'd much rather do Harbin anyway.
;)....:D:D

Ok Harry,another time maybe.:)

I think it's a fairly open secret but it seems that FL will be making WWII.

I, too, after seeing them at the Wayne Show, am intrigued by the figures and have just ordered a few, plus I have a pre order in with Minuteman for several others.

I have thought this for awhile but I think FL could be a big player in this industry. They started out slowly but built their base and have kept adding interesting new releases onto it. They've found a niche by producing Russian quality figures at less than Russian prices.

When they've said they're going to do something, they've been reasonably prompt in fulfilling their promises, unlike some others. I know that K & C has viewed Figarti as a possible strong competitor. However, I would think that FL is the one they may be worried about, especially if they release a WW II range, it's 60 mm and it's every bit as good as their Napoleonics.

I think they have made it clear that they will produce to the market demand. You can still buy nearly all of their first releases and as the demand for their figures increases, so I expect will their production. So if you want more, buy more.;):D
