The town and country series (2 Viewers)

Hello Len & all the other members of the Forum who have posted comments to Len Taylor's "Thread" that he started in early January 2011. I now see that I erroneously noted that Len Taylor's Sculptor, partner & friend's name was "Mike Nichols". After just reviewing the the special letter from Trophy Miniatures Wales, Ltd that came with the Christmas Special Edition 1995 set of XM20 of "Going Over The Top" I see that the correct name of Trophy's splendid in house sculptor was "Michael R. John". Sorry for the error!

Also, the above noted letter from Trophy also noted that Trophy's first special Christmas set started in the year 1983. However, if Trophy only made just ONE set per each year the start date of the Christmas sets would go back to the year 1976 based on XM20 set coming out for 1995 & then going back 20 years to 1976. Was the Trophy letter that came with the Trophy set# XM20 incorrect with regard to the start date OR where there some years that had more that just one XM Christmas set issued??

Hello to all:

Today I got a reply back to my Private Message via the Forum from Len Taylor. Len indeed confirmed that the "XM" or Special Christmas sets started in 1983.

Hello Raymond:

Per documentation kindly provided by Martyn ("GICOP") on recent prior postings your "Santa w/Bag" of toys is Trophy set# XM3; your "Snowman" is Trophy set# XM4; The "Gentleman w/ Gift Boxes & Wreath" is Trophy set# XM5 and your "Christmas Tree" is Trophy set# XM9. So you indeed have some of the early Trophy Miniatures XM sets. Enjoy them!

Hi Gary,

Thanks very much for your kind notations on my small collection of Trophy Christmas sets. Indeed, these are some of my most "precious" Trophy sets that enhance the festive cheer of Christmas. I shall try post an updated picture closer to Christmas Eve.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Hello Raymond:

Thanks for reply back. By the way, I showed Karen your remarks and I showed her the Trophy "photos" on Trophy inventory data on their "XM" series of sets that Martyn posted. Karen noted that she liked your XM3 set of Santa much better than the Santa of set XM10. Also, Karen just reminded me that the sets I recently posted here, namely Trophy sets C-81, C-82, XM-14 & XM-20 were all Christmas gifts from me to her in past years. These are some of her favorite sets along with of course the King & Country "Streets of Old Hong Kong" and my K&C Ancient Egytian displays. By the way, sometime in 2012 I should have an article with photos showing my now six 9 inch by 21 inch dioramas of the K&C Ancient Egyptians published in TS&MF Magazine. I also have a brief paragraph about my nearly 20 years of collecting since 6th of December 1991.

Happy collecting,

"Iron Brigade" / Gary

Hi Gary,

I shall keep a look out for your upcoming article in TS&MF magazine in 2012. If I recall correctly, this will be your 8th contribution to the magazine after a quiet spell.

Please give my warmest wishes to Karen. You are a very lucky man to have her support your hobby for all these years. I still think your SOHK display (Karen's favourite) is the best I have seen.

I shall drop you a note on your birthday.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Great set, Martyn. Len made another one: only with a confederate soldier.
Al

Al, I remember seeing it on the shelf at MKL, next to the Union set which I bought, I passed on it:eek:

Well, Martyn
You should have bought another one as well. Besides my preference would be "a confederate version" :)

Thank you, Martyn for heads up.
The seller has some interesting sets but shipping cost is a deal killer for the US buyers :(
Al

Happy to point them out Al :salute::

I just picked up what looks like four members of a band. Will post photos tomorrow.
